Remember Sage last year?

Everything about Sage hints he's not quite good enough. The footwork. The arm. The athletic ability. The pocket presence. The timing. But nothing is abysmal, either. He has decent variety of pace and loft. The inclination to go downfield is certainly there, much better than Feeley.

I have no idea where this comes from.

ANALYSIS
Positives... Confident field general with a strong personality...Tough and durable, absorbing punishing shots without ever being knocked out of a game...Has fine delivery and passing mechanics, hitting receivers in stride on timing patterns...Though under constant pressure, he keeps his cool...Very quick driving away from the center while setting up, showing the body control needed to throw on the move...Carries the ball chest-high and is always ready to throw...Has quick wrist action in his delivery and the power behind his tosses so he does not have to plant in order to throw the deep passes...Knows how to adjust his release based on angles taken while throwing...Can drill the ball in the seam playing the short area passing game and keeps receivers within their routes by feathering the ball to them on long bombs...Shows good backside awareness rolling out of the pocket...Scans the field effectively throws with impressive velocity in the intermediate and short range...Can also hold for placements.

Negatives... Tends to lock onto his primary receivers too much...Looks to run when the pocket collapses, rather that throwing the ball out of bounds to prevent a turnover...Little inconsistent with his accuracy, especially when throwing the long ball...Has to improve his field judgement, as he gets into a rhythm where he will force the ball into traffic.

His problems are still similar in locking on. He tried to force a throw on his 2nd TD drive that was almost a pick because of that problem.

He HAS ALWAYS HAD way better physical gifts than Feeley and Frerrote. He's VERY big too.

He's a legit 6-4 1/2 and 225.

I was actually at the Baltimore game last year, and I thought Sage did a good job. He seemed poised, confident, and had command of the team from the get go. One of his interceptions should have been caught, but the receiver tipped it instead, and one was by Ed Reed, who had been watching Sage the entire game and figured out where he needed to be to pick it off. Great defender, not a bad quarterback.

I met Sage's mom after the game outside the bathroom and told her I thought he played well and deserved a chance to win the job-she thanked me and said that was what he had been wanting, but he had never truly been given the chance. Nice lady.

I say, why not? Let him start and see how he does-I'm not sold on Gus or AJ yet, so like they said in the Bad News Bears in Breaking Training..."Aw c'mon and let the kid play!"

Im for starting Sage too. It cant hurt us at this point. WHat are we expecting.... 5 wins with Gis or Aj at best? And that wouldnt even solve our qb problem for next season. I think you gotta give the kid a shot. Especially since he outright bear Gus and AJ this preseason. Id rather have someone with an upside as our qb right now.

everybody, all together now...

"let Sage play, let Sage play..."

this opinion and many others out there from "dolphins fans" reflect almost a hatefulness towards any dolphins success, reducing anything that this team does successfully to luck, chance or because of a mistake made by our opponents.

well, brother, dan marino's fake spike play vs the jets was also a high school trick.

if it works and it helps you win, do it.

if you want perfection, whatever that is, root for the patriots.

opinions like these are from people who are never happy.

:rofl3:

Man, you don't know me. I really must have hit a nerve with you , huh?

Just because I'm not salivating over a career 3rd string QB over his below-average play against a great defense last year....doesn't mean that I am negative. I was simply pointing out that the stats that were portrayed in the original post were not completely indicative of how he actually played. Do you remeber the play?? Chambers was completely uncovered and it would have taken an amazingly bad throw to not have that play go for a TD.

At the time of the play I was happy as a pig in ****. TD!!! I didn't care how it happened, or why...we scored!! We're awesome! Baltimore sucks!! When the scores count, I don't care how or why, the final result is all that matters...but when evaluating the individual player...the how and why become very important.

When looking back at the game as a means to evaluate the player, you have to look at the whole picture, not just the numbers. Someone else wrote that 1 of his INT's was the fault of the WR, off his hands. Well if that's the case then it wouldn't be fair to count that against him when evaluating him.....

I can go either way. I can see the beauty of a 1 yard run or the mediocrity in a 75 yard TD pass.

BTW - Your attempt at analyzing my personality couldn't have been more off. :) (see, I'm very happy).
