Remember Sage last year?

oh, I'm a true fan alright, and I have the tatoo to prove it!

Not when you consider that his first throw was a 75(approx) yard TD pass to Chambers on a completely BLOWN COVERAGE (Any High School QB could have made that throw).

After that his numbers work out to be 15 of 37 for 180 yards 0 TD 3 INT. That's 44% completion %, 4.9 YPA, and a 22.4 QB Rating.

While Baltimore was 2nd in the league in QB Rating against.....the rating against them was 65.8.....which Sage was WELL below (at 42.0) even when you include the fluke TD.
this opinion and many others out there from "dolphins fans" reflect almost a hatefulness towards any dolphins success, reducing anything that this team does successfully to luck, chance or because of a mistake made by our opponents.

well, brother, dan marino's fake spike play vs the jets was also a high school trick.

if it works and it helps you win, do it.

if you want perfection, whatever that is, root for the patriots.

opinions like these are from people who are never happy.

I remember we lost the game...I remember that Sage was worse than AJ had been for a couple of games prior...Sage is not the answer...he couldn't even beat out Ears...
he wasnt given the chance. its obvious that he thinks he's the QB from the way he carries himself on the field. but then, you cant count out any of the three without giving them a fair shot patiently over a few games.

if i were to roll the dice (since naming any of the three as starter over the first few games) i would go with rosenfels.

Last year, the year before or the year before that, whatever. You can't change the fact that when Sage played last night, he played as well if not better than either AJ or Gus has all preseason. You can't throw ,well he played agains't 3 and 4th teamers because AJ and Gus looked just as bad agains't 2nd, 3rd and 4th teamers I am not endorsing Sage, just stating fact. IMO Gus will be the starter in game 1.

great post... i was gna post exactly the same..

take away the blown coverage and the stat filling first pass and Sage was horrible, really bad.

Yea, and if you take away all the blown coverages or lucky catches other teams get we can all tweak to get a result that suits our stand. However, take the entire play as it is and that is what it is. Regardless of last year, Sage is as good as either AJ or Gus and is deserving of a shot. Read this article by Greg Cote and pay attention to the quote from Sabin.

who cares that we lost that baltimore game and that sage threw 3 picks. If feeley started what do you think his stats would have been? Im sure we wouldve lost, and Im sure he wouldve thrown more than 3 picks (he averaged about 3 a game last year). Plus that wide open pass that someone said "anyone couldve completed"...aj wouldve missed it...guaranteed.

Burger, thank you for shutting that argument down. I have nothing against you finjim, or even sage for that matter. But he's not a starter, and I don't think he can be. He makes a couple of nice throws, but so does everyone else when given enough reps. It's how you manage the game, and if you can win it that matters. When he's been out there against first teamers, there is no more pathetic deer in the headlights look than that of sage. I will admit though, that while watching the game yesterday, I just kept repeating to myself, what on earth are we going to do come real game time. Our QB's look so so so bad, and it's real frustrating.

What the heck are you talking about??? He played in 1 game, ONE GAME his entire Miami Career, and ned nevermind it was against one of the best defenses in the NFL with No Ground Game, or O-line to help him out, but ONE game and you can determine that he's a bad QB???? How many QB's can you name who played their first game and played really well???

right, at least Sage, SAW the blown coverage.

Fiedler or Feeley probably woudn't have.

Everything about Sage hints he's not quite good enough. The footwork. The arm. The athletic ability. The pocket presence. The timing. But nothing is abysmal, either. He has decent variety of pace and loft. The inclination to go downfield is certainly there, much better than Feeley.

Not to mention that Saban happens to think that Sage might do the job. Read it in Greg Cotes Miami Herald story.:goof:

Did anyone besides me actual watch Sage play last night? I mean he was poised, he stayed in the pcoket and when he couldn't find a receiver after 3 or 4 seconds he bootlegged around to the outside AND did fairly well on the runs (except for not knowing he should be sliding in feet first). On the one run he even put a good lick on their #55 who had to come out (it was more than a dirty mouth protector). Sage Rosenfels has a presense out there and he threw some darn good long balls too. He looks over the field, he audibilizes and does all the fundamentals that coaches like. He CAN inspire this team to do better, which IMHO I don't think either of the other two do a very good job.

For those who keep on inisisting that he ahs been with Miami for 3 years and hasn't shown anything (sans the one kick butt performance against the Ravens, coming off the bench cold) - tell me when he was given the chance - Wanny didn't let him play. He was relegated to a true 3rd string position - only in the time of dire need. Ther is no reason that is sound and wwell thought out that Sage should not start for this team. Tell me you honestly feel that we could/would do worse with him than with AJ or Gus. Sage is more of a future to this team than either of them has shown to be.

There is better than a 50/50 chance that Saban will start or atleast put Sage in when Gus can't get any momentum in game #1. Believe that.

I'm not going to claim that Sage was great in that Baltimore game, but it's really no worse than what Feeley and Fielder did against comparable defenses last year:

Feeley

Steelers 13/27, 137 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs
Bills 25/51, 303 yards, 3TDs, 5 INTs

Fiedler

Patriots 20/41, 251 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Bills 12/23, 136 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Jets 18/33, 206 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs

Nobody could beat out ears - remember he started the season last year too. I wouldn't mind a Sage experiment for the sole fact that we have nothing better. I don't thikn he will be great but our other options aren't exactly better.

So basically we our screwed right now in the qb postion. Is there anybody out there that is a fa/cut/trade that we can get that will help us.

I'm all for Sage starting week one...let's see what the kid can do over the course of a few games.
