Fins Best #1 in a long time
Yep. Gholston, a workout warrior reminded me of Aundray Bruce--all the atjletic ability in the world but far from a polished player. He still can live up to his talent though, and might even develop into a monster in his second season like Mario Williams. But, the Dolphins were definitely right to pick Jake Long.
Notice how we are grinding up the clock, physically bashing down opposing defenses, not turning over the ball, shortening the game by using a lot of clock and keeping much of our plays in bounds, and letting our defense win the game? That is the Parcells system. It all begins with a big, physical, smash-mouth offensive line. Long has shown that not only is he a dominant run blocker, but he is also an excellent pass protector. That has contributed mightily to our incredibly low number of turnovers. In fact, if you look at when Pennington turns the ball over, and it is almost always when he is under pressure. So yeah, I am quite pleased with Jake Long. He is the player who fits our system best, the best player in the draft IMHO (although the two headed monster that is Matty Ryan Clady are gems as well).
But finding a top escheleon LT is almost impossible outside of the upper portion of the first round. I definitely think we made our pick count. :)
