Do you all remember when Wanny set mousetraps (and lobstertraps) in the lockerroom to get the attention of the players? That was an unsuccessful motivation device to shake up the players...

If Wanny saw a lack of motivation and intensity a few years back... and with Zach's comments about the lack of intensity for last weeks Buffalo game... it made me wonder if there is one.. two or a handful of players not taking each game seriously enough and its having a ripple effect in the locker room.. so which players are still with the team from the infamous mousetrap year?

As far as I remember we were playing the Bengals that week, and we won

So how was it unsuccessful?

I believe the lack of intensity is directly related to Dauntes performance. I think we as fans.. and even players expected much more from him.. the reality is setting in... So Saban makes a state of the union address.. and says it's every players responsibilty to make this team successful... we'll see not only this weekend.. but from now until the bye week... if we can sustain that enthusiasm.

WE PLAYED VERY UNMOTIVATED FOOTBALL THAT WEEK. I REMEMBER IT CLEARLY. IF YOU HAVE TO PUT UP MOUSETRAPS, YOU ALREADY SENT A SIGNAL THAT IT IS AN EASY GAME......OR YOU WOULDN'T NEED TO DO THAT.

WHAT THIS TEAM NEEDS IS A PLAYERS ONLY MEETING OR THE VETERAN LEADERS TO STEP EVERYONE UP. IT IS UP TO THE PLAYERS

I can't remember who we played but I do remember us losing that game. Against a team we should have beat.

There was another "trap" he used as a symbol, for the Vikings game, which we lost. Costed us from going to the playoffs.

Considering how many players are left from that era if they are still not motivated you have to look at the players that are left.

J.T. and Zach are great players but they aren't leaders. I was honestly hoping Crowder/McMicheal would grow into those roles but that's not going to happen at this point.

Its kinda a shame that JT and ZT arent leaders in the locker room... The team does need someone to get in the faces of players that arent playing well..

The game against Buffalo... I felt no excitement what so ever.. Come last Sunday morning.. it was like.. oh yeah, there's another gamecoming on in a few minutes... should I watch the game or go take a nap?? If I can be a fan, living 3000 miles away and not feel the enthusiasm... then you all living local should really feel it..

Yeah but this team has been like this for years. There's no hard hitting trash talker. Who can fire up the entire defense with a shot. Who can intimidate opposing players like a Brian Dawkins, or a Rodney Harrison. Not necessarily dirty, but hardly very vocal. The fire isn't there with this team, it rarely is. I think it was there in that 6 game winning streak we had last year, though some will argue since we only beat lousy teams that was all an "enigma". Is passion an enigma? I dont think so.....But this defense especially is the same old boring, vanilla, calm and cool defense that wont come through in the clutch, and you've got to look at the players for that. Because Nick Saban has never been a guy without fire.
