Great experiences watching Marino live. I was at the fake spike game up at the Ghettolands. I remember it was Freeman McNeil day and they were giving all Jet fans a Freeman poster.

Anyway when Dan threw Ingram his fourth TD on the fake spike you could hear a pin drop at that stadium and jet fans had no idea what just happened but they knew it was bad. Walking out after the game with my Fins coat on and a grin as wide as the Mac the knife across my face I come face to face with a jet fan. This classless chimp in street clothes takes one look at me, has tears running down his cheeks, drunk as a Tom Arnold, crumples up his Freeman McNeil poster and attempts to throw it in my face as hard as he could but his own momentum trips him over his own feet and crashes face first in the pavement.

Ahh the memories........

I was watching it live on TV, so not quite the immersive experience you had...but I'll sure NEVER forget it. Respect Bernie Kosar for life for coming up with that.

They were great memories..... here's to HOPE! HOPE that this Dolphin team will be competitive and make us proud.... and make is relevant once again! It all starts this Sunday against the hated and media darlings in the Patriots! We have to win our division games and this one we have to get since we are home!

Another great one I had at the Ghettolands. Miami was down something like 24-3 and right before the half Stoya kicks a 59 yarder right before the half that aggravates the jets crowd. Marino brings em back in the 2nd half. It was beautiful. Also Louis Oliver crushes Ken Obrien on the 1 yard line. Ken saw him coming and folds like lawn chair. He was a decent numbers QB but he had no heart

These memories are what keeps me going.
I have been a Phan sine childhood and I am now 58.
I am from Miami and did get to be part of the joy on Sundays, Mondays and even before there was such a thing as Thursday Night Football.
I have not missed a game in my years as a phin phan. I am certain I have not missed even one game.
I live for the day, my team, the Dolphins win the big game.
I will be happy if they just make the playoffs this year.

Oh..........Ghettoland. Love that.

Officially jealous! - thanks for sharing.

Saw "the Man" and Miami four times in my 48 yrs of existence. `86 in Anaheim vs the Rams where we win in OT. Him and Duper connect for the game winner. I think he threw 5 TDs that day. `92 in the Kingdome in Seattle where we squeak out a W. Dan hits Freddie Banks for the TD after coming back in after getting knocked out earlier. Scott Mitchell actually won that game hitting Duper on fourth down play to keep that drive alive. Was at SD when we blew the 21-6 lead in the`94 playoffs. Stoyonavich wide right! Then a Sunday night game the next year again in SD that we won. I remember I was sicker than hell, had the flu, but we snuck in a bunch of airplane bottles of Grand Marnier. Great memories!

Awesome memories, man. Thanks for sharing. Classic jests clowns.

I remember every Marino game I ever went to see. Just seeing the man live was an event and football poetry. His comeback game against the Pats is still the best game I've ever been to and I don't know how it will ever be topped. The many games I've been to in the years since just haven't been the same. They don't stand out to me the same way. It hasn't felt the same way watching it. It was like Marino and Shula deserved being cheered for more. It just felt like better reasons to care.

I saw it on TV and I still remember exactly where I was. Your story just enriched the whole memory for me. I'll be sure to tell your story from now on when I talk about that play.

Funny,as a kid I used to wonder why nobody ever faked a spike because the defense often did relax when it was obvious that a spike was coming. I was glad to see Marino do it in such a perfect moment against the jets.

And regarding that drunk jet fan, at that moment I thought I was going to have to throw down because he saw me from a distance and quickly made his way towards me and I saw the venomous look on his face. I then realized how wasted he was when he tripped over himself. Thought it was pretty pathetic of him to try and start something but it was even more pathetic that a grown man was literally crying over a loss. Served him right
