I can only assume they don't own the land, Nova Southeastern does and they didn't want to sell it, Ross being in the property business see's some tax write offs in owning vs leasing.
Just a guess -

There 10 minutes apart at most, so the drive was not the problem

Could of refurbished the Davie property for much less I would think. Cost is 137 mil to move it

Does look very nice
