As much as the OL sucked vs. Cinci, why not put Vernon into the mix instead of Taylor Whitley? Get him some playing time and experience with snap count, etc.

I think Vernon could get some push forward and open up some holes for LG to run through.

"Strong run blocker that drives opponents off the line, works to finish and opens holes for the running game."

It can't get any worse.

rewatching the game, Smith and Whitley looked the worst to me...I'm no Oline guru by any means but I dont think technique calls for missing blocks and getting driven back constantly...I'd get them both the hell out of there and tell the next guy to show some friggin heart and pride or you'll be getting yanked out as well.

Replace Whitley with St.Claire and then start Vernon at tackle.

They have said all along that they will put the best 5 lineman on the field regardless of position which leaves Carey out for the time.He has been a slow learner and not very aggressive.

Doesnt it seem strange to you that there is not much talk about Carey from teammates and coaches. Its a bad sign. You cant call him a bust yet but he has been a dissapointment so far.Maybe in a couple of years ?

With how bad the oline played on Sunday night I just really cannot believe that Carey cannot break into this lineup somewhere. I know he is young and needs to learn the offense, but if he is talented (he should be as first round pick), then talen alone should get him in the starting lineup.

it does seem unsettling that vernon carey aint in the line up with the lines struggles. I hope that he will receive time some time at guard but if he aint getting it yet he may never get it.

He's got to have more Raw talent than Whitley that's for sure. Put him in at guard and put McCintosh in at LT. The big question is could it be worse?

Carey's dad said he was due to start this past Sunday. Then they had the meetings and that all changed. I have a feeling he is going to be starting in the very near future.

so we're going to cut 2 3rd round picks because they're not doing well?

He probably does have the talent (at least more than Smith/Whitely) but he is most likely offered little useful mentoring by our o-line coach. The complex schemes Wise offers are unsuited to getting a rookie in there quickly and even seem to be confounding the vets and other more experienced players. Wise does not change his scheme and philosophy to the talent. Additionally there is no vet on the line to mentor him in the Wise system. For all the negatives said about Ruddy, the line was in part better last year because he was making the calls at the line. McKinney doesn't have this ability and is another fatal weakness that will be hard to overcome.

ther was actually a quote where Wanny said he was thinking of benching both St. Clair and Whiley and putting Carey and Hadnot in, but he said that "The rookies will commit penalties, and if they do that they'll get you beat"

These offensive lineman need to show that they deserve to play during practice, and after Sunday's night game if there is someone on the pine that is showing more skills and promise give them a chance with the first unit in practice, and see if the teamwork, and communication get any better.

Paul Boudrou (sp) seems to be better o-line coach w/ Carolina, I wonder if we can trade back coaches???
