When I heard baseball was going to bring replay, initially I didnt like the idea. There are 162 games and my thought was during the course of the year a team will get some calls and miss some calls; it will all even out.
But last night in the Brewer game. The score was 2-2 in the 8th inning. 2 outs, runners on 1st and 3rd. Tony Clark sliced a ball down the left field line, it was clearly foul, but the ump blew it and the DBacks score 2 runs. Plus they went on to score another run in the inning (making the score 5-3) basically putting the game out of reach for the Brewers.

I know alot of you will say its only one lose and it no big deal over the course of the season. But look at the Brewers last season. They edged out the Mets for the NL Wildcard by only one game. Now take the situation from last night, and apply it to the 2008 Mets that play would have/could have cost them the playoffs.
I know Im still a bit bitter from last night and I might just need time to let it sink in, but a simple look at the tape would have cleared up the issue. And now all season I am going to have to reflect back on lastnights game. I will never be for replay on balls and strikes, or close plays at first. But simple plays that can easily be cleared up such as fair or foul, home runs, or trap plays in the outfield deserve a second look. What do you think??
