I watched the replay of the game and have somethings I would like to speak out on. I didnt get to watch the game Sunday so now that I have watched the game I can voice my opinion.
My Assessment of Sundays Game
1. Ronnie Brown should be the starting runningback
I payed very close attention to the backs in the game due to some of the dissapointing stats that I was seeing out of the running game on sunday. Ricky had a few nice carries to begin with but when Ronnie came in I payed real close attention to him knowing he had knee surgery. Ronnie doesnt look any different to me in running style than he did last year. I saw pure speed and no dancing as soon as he took the hand offs. I also saw his great recieving abilities. Ronnie,IMO, needs to be the starter because he seemed to do much better against NY than Ricky. Ronnies recieving abilites make him a better piece to the offense than Ricky. Ronnie should get the start on sunday against the Cardinals, who I do not know much about their defense.
2.Playcalling favors TE not WR
-This must be true because I dont think Ive seen a game like this where the tight ends get almost every throw their way. I know Pennington is known as a game manager and short throws are his high point, but I dont think because of that the recievers were not involved. I was real excited for Ginn this season because him and Pennington clicked in the preseason. I think we will see Penne to Ginn often sunday against the Cards. Fasano I was most impressed by. He does find the soft spots and gets open. He is a great addition and who knows, if he stays consistent could we say Pro Bowl for Fasano? I was suprised by Martin. He looks good out there and I was critical of him last year and thought they should cut him. Good thing I'm not GM.
3. Defense Resembles Last Years D slightly.
-Miami was awful against the run last year. It was pitiful watching teams run all over us. Miamis D looked a little bit better stopping the run but still allowed Jones 100 yds. But you could also say NY has a heck of a line with the additions of Woody and Faneca. The Defense still gives up the big plays in the secondary. Crocker I'm not a big fan of. I liked how Allen played in the pre season and I find myself scratching my head why Crocker is in there. Allen should be able to challenge for the starting spot this week of practice and it would be nice to see him unless crocker steps it up. Goodman does not impress me, Lehan I like but is he still hurt??? Channing Crowder and Yerimiah Bell are the favorite of the veterans to me. They are playmakers. Langford and Merling look pretty good in their debut. The knack that Ive had on Miamis D for the past few years is lack of creating turnovers and big plays. I saw a couple of sacks and a great fumble forced that turned the game around. Hope to see it still come.
Overall:
I like this team. The injury to Thomas made my stomach drop because I was impressed by the way he had played sunday. We will miss him. Now back to the point, I do like this team. We go to Arizona sunday and this is a winnable game. Pennington and the offense need to get on track fast. Last game they got lucky because they were slow for 3 drives and were still in it. If this offense can get out the gate fast we will be in good shape. I see big things out of both the running game sunday, and Ted Ginn I think will get Fasano-like looks from Pennington. The D has a test with Fitz-Boldin-James. It will be interesting to see how they do against them. Pass rush is key.
Dors Prediction:
Fins-24
Cards-17
Go Dolphins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
