Replay OL play of first 3 series of ATL game..

Great break down!! I watch alot of line play with my DVR back/forth.

Comes as no surprise to me ... Carey was poor 3 years ago ... and has gotten progressively worse.

I thought for sure we'd upgrade him earlier (especially with his salary) & am disappointed we did it so late with low-round talent.

Wouldn't surprise me 2 cents, to see Carey get upgraded again at Final Roster Cuts.

Another thing to watch: Alot of our "starter" cuts, won't land on a team ... a couple have landed as a "last resort", but still have to survive cuts. Team talent still isn't the greatest ... and depth is poor, which also reflects on Special Teams.

My thoughts exactly, I know we have to be looking Guards on other teams who because of numbers or pay to the starters or starters who cost too much will be cut....I can't say incognito did a bad job, but Carey was terrible except for pass blocking..

Thanks for the breakdown.

Man, I sure hope it's Carey coming off surgery, playing RG for the first time in a long time, and just sorta half-assing it in preseason or waiting for his legs to come back...cause the run blocking was awful. Really thought he looked solid pass blocking though. I want to see another game or two before I think all is lost with him. No sense keeping him though if he can't cut it. And I hate saying that cause I love having Canes on the Phins roster. =)

First off, Carey did not have surgery.
Second. I told you guys the right side of our offensive line was literally being pushed into the running backs and our other offensive lineman, all the way on the other side of the line.
Third. Like I said, Vernon Carey has left the building.
Fourth, believe it or do not believe it, its pure fact.

ha, not sure why I said surgery, meant injury. thx

No problem Amigo. Its sad, its hard for some to accept, Many will refuse to beliee it but Vernon Carey is going to go thru the motions to get paid this year, thats it. Doesn't matter if he was RG, RT, DE, QB, waterboy or Punt returner. Sooner then later, the masses are going to see for themselves.

Yeah, just sucks cause he was great for us for a while, and has been a good locker room guy, real team player, always doing whatever the coaches ask without whining...just wish something would have clicked again by now.
Solid guy, and a Cane of course. lol

Vernon is a great kid but do what the coaches ask ? Sorry, its been more like do what it takes to get by not to pissss the coaches off. Last year he pissed them off, this year he was almost not on the team. Next year he will not be on the team. He took his money, put enough in the bank to play video games for life and again, he left the building.

What's interesting to me and I guess I knew this on some level, but all it took for a run play to break down is one man, and that man doesn't even have to be on the same side of the line that the run is designed for.. I will watch this even closer from now on..if Carey and Fasano would have cut their men off, our running plays would have looked a lot better..and gone for atleast 5 yards a piece.

Murtha has improved nicely and I have no doubt he'll be the left tackle when Jake is back. I wouldn't be surprised if Colombo got cut.

I look at some of these play and just wonder at how these guys are even supposed to get into position. What I mean is that we do alot of "reach blocking", where the blocker is initially lined further away from the point of attach than the man he is blocking. This puts the blocker at a big disadvantage. I look at some of these plays and I don't even see how they could be expected to get into position. Alot of the problems with our line are problems with the schemes we use....not just that our OL sucks...which they do...

In the 1:25 mark, Thomas cut back into where the O lineman pulled out of. That was a mistake. The OL didn't create any holes for him, although he did have enough room to run to the outside. He had a choice of going left or right, he chose left which led him into the ATL def. He's adjusting to running in the NFL, hopefully we see better decision making in games to come. We will deff see this kid shine once his head stops spinning.
