Just days before a title bout that could eclipse the miracles of George Foreman, ageless phenomenon Bernard Hopkins addressed what really matters:

Questioning former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb's blackness and mettle.

According to Hopkins, McNabb had a privileged childhood in suburban Chicago and, as a result, is not black enough or tough enough, at least compared with, say, himself, Michael Vick and Terrell Owens.

"Forget this," Hopkins said, pointing to his own dark skin. "He's got a suntan. That's all."Hopkins also implied that, while Vick and Owens remained true to their roots, McNabb did not, and that McNabb was rudely awakened when the Eagles traded him to the Redskins last year.

"Why do you think McNabb felt he was betrayed? Because McNabb is the guy in the house, while everybody else is on the field. He's the one who got the extra coat. The extra servings. 'You're our boy,"' Hopkins said, patting a reporter on the back in illustration. "He thought he was one of them."

Replace "guy in the house" with "slave in the house," then replace "on the field" with "in the field," and Hopkins' message is Uncle Tom-clear.

McNabb's publicist, Rich Burg, said McNabb would have no comment.

Well Vick is a convicted felon so I guess Hopkins is saying that's what blacks do. TO is a douche so same for him. Oh well

I like Hopkins...He is a great boxer..I watch the face off with him and Pascal with Max whatever his name is..

It was 15 minutes of good sport tv....

However I do disagree with what Hopkins says...and really why even say it..Upbringing does impact your life..That is tru...But why is Hopkins even bringing this up?

It really makes no sense

I lost all respect or Hopkins. I hope his daughter is out there turning tricks, robbing people, or atleast about to be convicted and serve a couple of years or she might be disowned.

what a cahk

 i know you guys didnt think this guy hopkins was a stand up american citizen...

Hell no but when you've been brought up in the environment he has and came out of it, you'd think that he'd have the appreciation for somebody that has kept his nose clean regardless of his upbringing.

Education and hard work usually conclude in some sort of success and elevate people from poorer circumstances. It's the course you take to make a better life, if not for yourself so much, your children.

McNabb's parents, or further back, made it to the Chicago suburbs, probably from someplace less affluent.

I guess this joker will remain in what ever rats nest he was raised in, regardless of his success, so his decendents will know what it is to be black and real.

hopkins sounds like a retard. although i never liked donovan as a player i respect him as a man with intergrity to never stoop to the level of ignorant people. i tell you what btard, give ur money back and move back to the hood so you can keep it real.who the eff wants to live n the hood by choice?

black enough = 3rd grade education and violent...

Bernard Hopkins has at least one thing in common with McNabb...He uses the color of his skin as a crutch. That is just as racist as name calling or discrimination.
