The Milwaukee Bucks' campaign to secure the services of reluctant power forward Yi Jianlian has suffered a blow after the player's Chinese club said it would block his move to the United States.

Yi, taken by Milwaukee with the sixth selection in the NBA draft last month, would "definitely not" play for Milwaukee, Tuesday's Beijing News quoted Guangdong Tigers chief, Chen Haitao, as saying.

"This is not -- as media reports have said -- because Milwaukee, as a city with very few Chinese people, is not good for Yi's commercial development," Chen said.

Pretty much the same article on SI.com...

Chen expressed concern that Yi would have trouble getting game time at the Bucks, whose squad boasts Australian 7-footer Andrew Bogut and a number of other tall young players.

This sucks for the Bucks...

This totally blows. Not sure what Harris was thinking with this one. He better just move him quickly to the Warriors or Kings while he still has great value. How bout Yi and Dan Gadzurics contract for Artest.

Dear isiah,

Go get the next Dirk. Ill even lay out the deal for you: Expiring contracts of Jones and Dickau + Nate Robinson and Randolph Morris for Yi and Gadzuric. Holla.

Your pal,

Matt

I don't want the Lakers to have him. Trade him to Boston and be done with him.

cmon sixers, make a move, nows your chance to get this guy :D

Yep, the Sixers need a backup to Sam Dalembert, and the Chinese food is better in Philly than in Milwaukee.

NBA needs to tell this guy to stuff it.

Of course, they won't as they continue to slobber over the Chinese market.

Milwaukee will come out ahead in the long run, with some other team trading solid NBA players to the Bucks for a guy who will be nothing more than a stiff. This guys value will never be higher than it is right now.

Bucks have no one to blame but themselves. They knew before the draft that Yi did not wanna go there.

Totally agree. And to a degree I can understand his position. I mean, its difficult enough hes coming from a foreign country and yea i realize hes not the only player doing that, but I can understand why he'd want to be in a place that has a somewhat diverse community. with at least a few people that may speak his language. Milwakee isnt really that place. Houston, New York, miami, LA etc fit that description much more so.

Yeah I agree with that.
