Report: Colts will cut Manning before the combine

sorry, but im not thrilled about manning.

he has not been a very good playoff player, although he did win a superbowl and had one other solid postseason performance.

he is def at the end of his career

he is not healthy

he IS and RUNS the offense, so we are kind of betting the bank on him rather than letting philbin/sherman implement their plans

We once again will not invest in a younger kid to be OUR franchise QB

id rather the skins or yets pick him up - they are more known for making bone head moves for old guys, it hasnt worked yet, i doubt it will.

does peyton run the WCO?

Sorry but i hope you're drinking. Thats like saying you dont want zeus on your team of lightning throwers. Peyton is one of the greatest quarterbacks and play callers to ever touch a football. 100% FIELD GENERAL. And all around good guy. Just what the team needs. If he says hes 100% healthy, how do we say?.... back up the brinks truck!!!

Anyway the Colts and Manning renegotiate a new contract, and for everyone to save face? Rework the contract, and take the bonus out of the picture and have Luck sit behind Manning for a year or two.

One thing that I haven't heard anyone mention is what kind of contract Peyton might command should his health improve enough to play. I would imagine that his guaranteed salary would be very low and his incentives would be extremely high. I don't think that he will command anywhere near $25-30 million/yr considering his health and age. If he demands that much, I would just as soon pass as we would have to gut our team just to get him here. I am thinking about $5 Million a year guaranteed over four years with $10-15 million in incentives (huge $ for each game started) so that he will get what he is worth but won't kill the team if he is hurt again.

spinal nerves average about 18 months to regenerate depending on pathology, so he is not going to be 100% year anyway, he is 35 years old, which means he is not going to heal fast or as well since the body significantly slows its healing time at 35 and so on from that point, that is the reason why athletes retire at that age. if the fans are happy with a manning who is not as good then sign him

It just felt like Ben Stein wrote this post.

If they cut him, it will be because they KNOW he is DONE.

Wake up and smell the coffee guys. If the man can play they WILL insist on getting their price for him. Men like irsay don't give away freebies out of the goodness of their heart. They have no heart to have any goodness in.

The Dolphins want to do "Anti-Brees" here, and will wind up with an "Anti-Brees" result.

I'm not neurologist but nerve regeneration times has big variance, if my sources are right this might go from 9 to 48 months. That's a huge difference!
That goes from starting QB in 2012 to retired player.

In terms of economics it's risk that seems impossible to handle.

Indianapolis will cut Manning because they DON'T KNOW if he can ever play again.

It has nothing to do with owing him $28mil in March and having the #1 pick to select A.Luck.
