Knicks president Donnie Walsh made a four-year, $24 million offer to Suns coach Mike D'Antoni this morning and the marquee fastbreak guru verbally accepted the package, beating out the Bulls.
The Knicks declined comment. The Associated Press and a number of other media outlets also reported that D'Antoni had accepted the offer.

Good, now the Suns can suck without him...And NY will continue to suck in the eastern conference. And play no D.

horrible fit. The only players that really fit his system are QRich,Lee, Chandler, and Balkman. Crawford and/or Nate Robinson might be able to be like Barbosa, but they do not have the PG that can call plays for the team ala Steve Nash.

I think D'Antoni is an ok coach, but he's far from a great coach. He was very unimpressive when he took over shortly into his first season and they traded Marbury. Without Nash, he's nothing (he better hope the Knicks can get either Rose or Augustine)

I know it's all about the cash but I think the Bulls would've been a great fit. The Suns didn't play any defense but after trading Marion they had one guy really capable of playing D in Raja Bell. It's a horrible fit, IMO. The Knicks got a bunch of square pieces they're trying to put into round holes. The roster needs to be completely overhauled. David Lee I think can be a pretty good 6th man and Crawford is a capable 2. Though the rest of the roster is overpriced overrated stiffs.

He couldn't win a title with Phoenix and now he goes to the Knicks?

Guess he just wants to get pizzaid

He's an over rated coach, once again the Knicks make a foolish decision. Marc Jackson was the pick here IMO.

Mark Jackson with ZERO head coaching experience wasn't the choice.

When you are rebuilding a team from the ground up. Esentially a expansion team, you need someone with a little experience who has been through it before.

Maybe D'Antoni isn't the best choice. But he is a better choice than Jackson

D'Antoni has proven he can only go so far while being carried by one of the best teams in the NBA. If you're going to hire a guy, at least hire a guy who hasn't peaked.

Devil's advocate would say that he was a BS rule away from winning a title last year. Doc Rivers was an awful coach last year and he got players and all the sudden he's a genius? I don't think Marc Jackson was the choice. It's a players league. If D'Antoni fails it won't be because he's a bad coach. It'll be because Donnie Walsh was not able to get him enough talent.

One thing that seems to be forgotten is that D'Antoni is going to coach essentially in the JV conference. Though he's also going to the Knicks so I wonder how much patience that fans will have.

Don't ignore his work in Italy. Which was "rebuilding" over there and how he had success doing it over there.

It's not about the current players, most of those guys will be gone w/in the next few years as Walsh gets the Knicks under the cap so they can make a run at some big time FAs in a few years.

The Knicks aren't in title mode right now, they are juist trying to get back to respectability and D'Antoni is goiod enough to do that fairly quickly. Whether he can win a title or not is a disucssion for a few years down the road.

You need players to win titles, Phoenix was good but they weren't better than SA the past few years, if Walsh can get him the players they'll have a chance. Riley couldn't win a title w/o Magic & Co. until he acquired enough good players and stole Van Gundy's job to win one in '06.

As a Knicks fan do you really want instant respectability? I would think it would be better to suck for a few years, purge the roster of all the overpaid scrubs, and hope for that superstar to fall into your lap via the lottery.
