Report: Dolphins gig Gruden's 'if he wants it'

If what I've heard about Gruden is true, I'm willing to give him a chance. The rumors are that he has used the last few years away from coaching to learn new things and try to learn from his mistakes. With Bill Parcells/Sparano, they were way to stubborn to adapt. IF Gruden would be willing to adapt to the current game, I think he could recapture some of his magic.

Now, I'm almost positive if he were to get back into being a HC he would demand enough money to buy his brother contract from Cincy out to be his OC. I'm not a Hurricane fan, but I remember the rumors being that that was one of the reasons he didn't become the HC there.

I remember when so many here thought that hiring big-name Nick Saban would change our fortunes because he was better than Belichick and Belichick learned everything from Saban. Every guy that Saban brought in as FA or drafted was a HOF and we would be winning a SB in a year or two. Then the Brees situation blew up in our face, Saban bolted and showed what a fraud he was when he couldn't just recruit the best athletes to play for him and all of the Saban blind believers became Saban haters.

Exactly... Saban was the next Messiah.. hoe people vented for him. Cameron was supposed to be the offensive guru we've be waiting for. Except he was offensive. Parcells was supposed to give us credibility, instead he's taken it away.

I hope someone in Davie is doing their due diligence, and not smoking the media pipe on hot shot coaches and yesteryear promises. A big name coach will only make us popular in the media (which so many of you so desperately crave), but it doesn't bring us the winning formula necessarily. Heck... look at Chan Gailey in Buffalo. Who would of thought the bills would be vying for the AFC lead?

Just goes to show you... there are no guarantees, and you never really know where success will come from.

So true.

So...we shouldn't hire a new coach then?

According to several posters, we shouldn't hire a big name coach because he'll be like Saban and we shouldn't draft a 1st round QB because he'll be like Leaf. Amazing.

Actually with the coach, I just want to go through an actual hiring process. Everybody knew we were hiring Saban, Cam, and Sparano and the other interviews weren't treated seriously. Guys like Mike Tomlin and Mike McCarthey were not considered serious candidates for the jobs they got.

I don't get the hate for Peterson, he was one of the top executives in the NFL, he's better than Ireland.

He was terrible GM and his "success" with KC can be directly attributed to Marty Schottenheimer.

i dont think ts smart to hire any coach who has been out of coaching for a few years.. most of these guys have gotten fat and lazy sitting on the sidelines with cushy tv jobs that only require 4-6 hours a week of actual work and not the 18-20 hirs a day grinds that most coaches claim to work.. id prefer someone who has been working their way up through the ranks and have earned the spot through hard work and determination..

Hell no do you all forget how he was in tampa? That super bowl was dungees team!!!
