"The Dolphins have called the agent for Joey Harrington to express their interest in the Detroit Lions quarterback, even as they are preparing to step up efforts to sign unrestricted linebacker LaVar Arrington."

"Finding a veteran backup quarterback and an outside linebacker are Miami's priorities for the remainder of the free agency signing period."

"It is likely the Dolphins and Lions will talk about Harrington's availability this week at the NFL annual meeting."

"The Dolphins don't necessarily want to meet Arrington's asking price either, but the source said the Dolphins want to convince Arrington that playing in Saban's scheme is worth lowering his asking price because it would increase his worth in the future."

Both would be nice additions, and making a stronger push or Arrington should make his decision easier. Let's lock him up already!!!..

If we don't sign him within the next couple of days, we should just give up on him, and look at some other options. I'm tired of going back and forth with these players, having to watch them use other teams as a means of doing business. I mean he either wants to play in Miami or he doesn't....

It's "take a dump or get off the pot" time with Arrington, and everyone knows it. No more nonsense, choose a team already!!!....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Yeah, it's beginning to look like the Brees situation all over again. Would like him but I doubt we'll get him. We'll see though.

Well if this report is anything, its good for the Dolphins. This means he spent all weekend in Jax and still didn't sign anything because of money problems. Since Miami and Jax are basically the only two left in the running for him, Money problems for both teams = advantage for miami because that is where he wants to play the most. Like the report said, the opportunity to play for Saban should lower his price, and also the fact that he knows hes not going to get much higher anywhere else. This is anything but bad for us!

Yeah, I'd much prefer Harrington to Maddox. But, the cost of getting Harrington (in the way of draft picks and dollars) may make getting him very prohibitive.

Reading between the lines of the part on Arrington, I think it means they are offering him a short term contract. They are saying play here for 2 years at $5m per year, then head into FA 29 years old coming off two pro bowl seasons in this system that is designed for you to excel, and cash in with your $50m contract then...instead of trying to cash in long term right now coming off two negative injury-plagued seasons.

I'd be extremely happy with the addition of Harrington & Arrington...:D

Yeah, I'd take Fiedler back over Maddox, if just barely. Harrington might be had for a mid round pick next year, and having a young guy with starting experience at #2 QB would be nice.

I like the idea of getting Lavar for the short term, and letting him go after two years. Plenty of time to grab another young LB in the draft and have him ready to start in 2008, but it really helps the Dolphins out right now.
