Report: Jeff Ireland to stay Dolphins GM despite bullying controversy

See i like what misi gives us he isint a superstar but he gives you the little things. Our run d is nothing special this year but it was even worse the few games he was out. He is a quality starter on most teams.

Like i said about Jerry he is starting but i dont consider him a legit player.

But Carroll to me has been a success it takes a few years to develop into a player. Using Coyle coaching him up as a negative is not a good way at looking at it. Thats what you want from your coaches to develop the talent into actual useful players.

That is one thing i love about this staff they develop talent. You see improvement in the players unlike past staffs.

Thats why i am not going crazy over davis and taylor not playing at a high level yet. Corner is a difficult position to play in the new nfl, where its designed for the offense.

Also Ireland has not missed in the first round and that to me is more important then third round players. The only real miss would be Vontae Davis.

Long, davis, odrick, pouncey, tannehill and jordan are not bad picks. A lot of teams have had worse runs in the first round

I wouldn't really consider Vontae a miss. He was a productive starter and we did recoup a 2nd round pick for him in a trade

8 guys?lol. You are funny. Lets start at the top- 2010- players that are "good choices", as you put it- Rashad Jones, Nolan Carroll, John Jerry, Koa Misi, Jared Odrick. That's 5 out of the 8 players drafted in 2010 that are STARTING on our team NOW!lol 4:1 dude? come on?

Let's continue here- 2011- Mike Pouncey, Daniel Thomas, Charles Clay and Jimmy Wilson. Only 6 picks in 2011 and 4 of them play a lot of minutes for us. 3 of them are starters. 4:6 or 2/3 of the draft was a success. 4:1 dude? Come on?

Shall I go on? 2012- Ryan Tannehill, Olivier Vernon and Rishard Matthews are ballin. 2 starters from this group but, Matthews is out starting slot WR so, technically, 3 starters here. The fun doesn't stop there though with this draft. Michael Egnew and Lamar Miller have stepped up for this season and are both showing promise. They were definitely "good choices" so, out of the 2012 draft, where we had 9 picks, 3 are starters and 2 play big minutes for us. 4:1 dude? come onnnnnnnnnnnn?

2013 draft class shouldn't even be analyzed because they haven't had the opportunity to prove themselves just yet. BUT, I'll move forward for you. Dion Jordan looks to be a stud in our future. Him, Dion Sims, Jalani Jenkins, Caleb Sturgis and Don Jones are all contributing AS ROOKIES. Will Davis and Jamar Taylor have both been injured.

So, what have we learned here. 1. that phishxhead has no clue 2. that saying Ireland has only hit "good choices" at only a 4:1 ratio is asinine and without merit as PROVEN above. He has been GM since 2008 but, if you feel he was making the decisions, you know nothing about Dolphins football and should remain quiet. Now do you truly believe the 4:1 ratio now?

No GM would select half the guys you called good at the spot they were drafted again. Egnew, Misi, Jerry, Sturgis, REALLY? No wonder you are happy with Ireland if those are your standards.

Trying to be objective; the responsibility to assemble a good team is not only Ireland, is about the owner, a good scouting team and Coaching office.
What do we have now? A strong group of men believing in the system and themselves(some talented as well), supporting each other, as a result, they are playing strong enough to be considered the best football dolphins team in some years.
Any decision taken can be a hit or a failure, a hit is not a problem, a failure has to be fix as soon as possible.
I am glad the way we are assembling a better team(young, talented, well coached, with healthy finances), all the staff is responsible for this including Jeff Ireland. Just keep winning!!

He was absolutely a miss. We spent a 1st rounder and got back a 2nd rounder. That's a miss.

Really? I think a miss is really a player you take in the first round that you can't even get anything back. Vontae wasn't a total bust. Ted Ginn, Jamar Fletcher, that scrub safety who Saban drafted whose name I forget... Now THOSE were 1st round misses! Not Vontae

I'm not sure I believe Ireland's job is safe. If the results from the NFL investigation implicate Ireland, he could very well be gone. Even if someone leaked that Ireland job was secure, that only implies that it is secure for now.

Jason Allen...that was a bust. How about Eddie Moore? Who you say?...lol.

imo, Ireland hasn't missed on a 1st round pick yet, he has done well there. The 2nd round? Not so much...

Other than Thill, who has he drafted in the 1st round that has been an impact player?

Long-no
Odrick-no
Pouncey-no
Davis-no
Thill-yes
Jordan-who knows

He doesn't whiff usually, but he doesnt' get elite talent either. This is the entire problem with Ireland. Failure to add top talent at the top of the draft, he is good at the back end finding marginal guys. Unless he can start doing this, this team wont be elite.

phishxhead, no longer worried about arguing with you. Your post just shows how little you know.

I didn't say they were all elite, but none are busts. every one of those picks is making a major contribution to their team.
And Pouncey in my opinion is most definitely an impact/elite player.

Lots of passion in this thread and some good points on both sides IMO..which is why I think he is about an average GM. The team overall is about in the middle of the league, like the GM. I do think that we have better coaching to develop the talent then we have had in the past. (Like what Coyle has done with the secondary, which was my hopes when he came here DLine coach has always been strong). The arrow is pointing up with the team in general and that's mainly because of the QB play. If you’re going to release Ireland there better be a thorough undertaking to find someone who is an upgrade and not just another replacement. Do we have confidence in Ross to do that? He better keep trying to surround himself with good people who know football.

Ahhhhh yeah, I'm done with you. You don't know football. ....people from a distance can't tell....

Pouncey is good, not great and definitely not an impact player, no OL are IMO. Davis and Long are both off the team and Jordan is an unknown high risk player. I've never been excited about Odrick. Thill is really his only saving grace (if he continues to develop). I don't think he has done particularly well in round 1.
