Report: Peyton Manning cleared to resume NFL Career

Wouldn't it be funny if A LUCK morphed into A LEAF?

I would love it if that happened. We're obviously not drafting him. It just means one less AFC contender for us to worry about. What's your point?

Everyone from the top of the organization to the fanbase knows the cap hell they're in.

The options that the Colts front office will have are to keep a currently hobbled Manning, blow up half the team and sign a bunch of vet mins to replace them, trade out of the first spot(aka pass on luck) and decide this before FA even starts

or...

go with the #1 prospect since Manning with a full team.

I hope for his health's sake this is a legit clearance and not just some hush money throw under the table to get clearance. I mean Manning is looking at a 28 million dollar bonus or 15 million per year if he becomes a free agent. Pretty sure the doctors are dirty enough to give him clearance if they got incentives for it.

Irsay won't give Manning his bonus on a doctors word without him throwing balls. No one on the open market is giving Manning 15M/year without huge performance clauses. Let's settle down with the conspiracy theories of paid off doctors. They cleared him because his neck is fine. We're all waiting to see if his arm is the same.

No team is going to spend 15+mil on a guy where huge questions need to be answered. Peyton is a good guy. He isnt going to sell anyone on bad goods. That would only ruin his character and rep. I care about what Manning says and does. I dont think the guy would put himself at huge risk if he thought a good chance of it were so.

It's still a possibility and yes they will give him 15 mill per year. If Favre and Kurt Warner got 12 mill per year Manning will definitely get paid, injured or not.

When the money is that big, and you're Peyton Manning, you do what ever it costs to get clearance.

He's going to Arizona. Not even going to get my hopes up.

Doubt it. We have a new competent coaching staff, talented offense, capable defense. Better overall team than Arizona. Peyton does not make AZ Super Bowl contenders, however he makes Miami contenders. I think if he was smart, which he is, he will choose Miami.

What is still a possibility? It doesn't matter if doctors clear Manning. He won't be kept on the roster without demonstrating he's still capable. No team will blindly pay him 15 guaranteed without him being able to play. Who cares what Favre and Warner got? They were physically capable. You don't sign someone to a guaranteed contract until they can physically fulfill that contract hence the performance clauses. If we sign Manning and earns 15M, it means he was able to play the whole season. If we kept him in the whole season, he must have been doing pretty well. Where is he slipping dirty doctors money from being cleared?

Arizona? Out of all places he would go? He has Larry Fitzgerald I know, but he makes Austin Collie look great, I don't think he's going to take an Arizona who only has 1 weapon and a mediocre defense(had to deal with this in Indianapolis as well) I think I'd rather take Marshall, Bess Reggie Bush,(hell, maybe even Fasano) and a very good defense in Miami

This certainly changes the entire situation. Thanks Bonedoc for some knowledgeable input on what Manning is facing. Bottom line is if he can throw, you have to move on him; however, I think Manning stays in Indy. If you recall when the Colts gave him that huge bonus, Peyton refused saying it was to much and to use the money on other positions. Manning is not selfish and I am fairly convinced he will restructure and stay there.

As for Luck, he already said he will sit behind Manning and learn if that is the situation. Don't tell me about affordability because you saw how bad the Colts are without him. He is the MVP of the league hands down and his presence alone puts them right back in the division hunt.

Peyton Manning is the face of the NFL. Irsay knows it and I have a hard time believing he cuts Manning without a huge backlash from the fan base. This is far different then Favre and Rogers. Rogers sat three years before Green Bay decided to go with him over Favre. It wasn't until that point that any controversy started and most of that was from the media and non Packers fans.

This is going to be very interesting over the next 6 weeks as this plays out in fact, this will be the most interesting off season in a long time.
