Report: Philbin almost quit over Sherman situation

I get being loyal but not to the point where it blinds you to the fact that sherman sucked

damn it would have been a really great start to the offseason if philbin quit!!!!!

It's not loyalty. It's about being hired to implement a plan, and then having the owner meddle with it. C'mon man!

I get people hate Bleacher Report but Dan Pompei is a respected journalist. I used to read his stuff in The Sporting News all the time. Not only that but the report makes perfect sense. It's not like he's saying Philbin wears a cape and his underwear on the outside when he comes to work.

To be honest it's a bummer Philbin didn't fall on his sword. Was hoping he would.

I know finheaven is going to discredit this article because its bleacher report but its probably true. What have the Dolphins done lately that would make anyone believe that any shenanigan reported by any outlet isn't true. This whole Aponte thing doesn't surprise he one bit. Steve Ross is half assing this any way you want to look at it if you ask me. Maybe it works out but I have strong doubts. He really should have fired Ireland first then hired a new GM and stepped away allowing the new GM to put together an administration and coaching staff he wanted to work with. A team that would strive for one common goal. The patchwork he's putting together will likely fail hopefully he cleans house next time.

Philbin's inability to recognise problems and correct them in a timely manner will get him fired even if Aponte is in his corner.

be careful joe...dawn is moving on. just win, it trumps everything.

I know the Dolphins are such a top notch squeaky clean organization I just can't believe any negative press that comes out about them. I mean they are the model NFL franchise how could any of this be true. The way they've put together 500 or sub 500 teams is just superior to the way the other teams do it. If anything but harmony is reported amongst the front office and coaching staff it just has to be lies.

If Phil in was ready to quit he will either love the new OC and this team will make the playoffs or he will be one and done

Good going not quitting Philbin. Revenge is sweet, just be yourself and go full Doofus on 'em this season.

BTW, if Sherman was really your friend he would have quit before last season started.
