Parcells has told not one, but several media buddies that the reports of him having a 30-day window to opt out of his contract with the Dolphins were not entirely accurate. Parcells is not denying the clause exists. But he's saying it is not as extensive and potentially disastrous to the Dolphins as has been reported.
But part of the reason Parcells isn't pounding that hammer could be the fact it isn't quite as imposing as previously thought. Parcells has declined to give specifics of where exactly the reports of the clause were accurate and where they were not. But it stands to reason that Parcells, who has said he will remain with Miami, is doing so in part because he wants to be in Miami and also because his options weren't as wide open as we thought.
I wonder what is inaccurate about it. I would assume it is something like he wouldn't receieve the final three years but maybe just this year's salary.

Either way, it is just another nail in the coffin for those thinking he would leave. Parcells isn't going anywhere.

Not this year. Im still quite of the opinion he is only here short term and his history seems to support that.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It never really made sense to me for that to happen. It is one thing to let him go, but another to fully pay him for the years remaining.

The story that just wont go away.... Sheesh!
i know right!!! i think this's brought up because it's the offseason and being how FA hasn't gotten here yet,and there's really nothing else to report...these reporters are bored and need/want something to write about...or that's my opinion anyway...

I may be in the minority here, but feel that at 67, professing to have more $$ than he needs, a beautiful home in Jupiter (near Celine Dion and Tiger??) and the best of all worlds as the Fins head honcho, IMO, Bill's here for the foreseeable future so long as Ross doesn't screw it up. Everyone who's so quick to point out his historical wanderlust is overlooking a major change to the Tuna equation: his past short stays were all in the context of coaching. Providing he's now beyond that (thanks to TO, LOL), now that he's actually buying the groceries, there's less incentive to move on, especially as he approaches his 8th decade. What really could be better than making the big bucks and receiving the credit while your subordinates do your bidding, maybe even hitting the links on those seasonal Sundays when the team's freezing their butts off out of town?

you could be right because of the change in job but thats the only history you can go by and with that evidence I will lean that way. Im fine if he stays longterm i just dont believe he will.

In the past i would agree with you but in this case it could be different.Bill has hand picked everything. In the past he has never gotten to do so.What more could he want other then retirement?Hes got in his words "More money then i could ever spend"and total control in Miami.I could only see him leaveing early if he wants to coach again or has a fallout with Ross.If Ross is smart he will just let Bill handle everything and stay the hell out of it.If that happens then i think everything will be good unless Bill wants to coach again!

I don't think Parcells has ever had a gig like this before. He's basically getting paid millions to be a mentor and make decisons based on his wealth of football knowledge. Everyone else does the heavy lifting. I wouldn't be surprised if he puts no more than 2 or 3 hours a day in at the office and he gets to spend the rest of his time playing golf, watching the horse races and going to spring training games. He's never had it this good and he knows it....

In the article Parcells said,
"I'm going to be with Miami until I feel that the team is in position and Jeff [Ireland] and Tony have enough experience that they can handle it," Parcells said.

That's good enough for me.

once you pooped somewhere, even after you leave.... you still pooped there!!!

That's pretty much what any 67 year old man would want. Life is good for Bill.
