Since the beginning of camp all I have been hearing is that Reshad Jones has looked really good, from what I hear he is always around the ball, sparano said he is a ballhawk and i have ready several quotes from sparano saying that jones is always near the ball, I think this is encouraging because the free safety position is something I worried about. Here is a little snippet of salguero's scrimmage report about jones.

Safety Reshad Jones, whom I've been telling you will get a legitimate opportunity to compete for the starting free safety job, got first-team reps in the nickel package. He didn't get beat that I could tell.

at the end of last year in limited action you could see he was always around the ball

Reshad is making some noise. Sparano just commented on him after the scrimmage, said not only has he been around the ball but he has also been more physical. It looks like he's been getting first team reps too.

I've been hoping he gets a shot and wins the fs job. The secondary needs a ballhawk in the worst way. I'm so tired of the safetys treating the ball like a hot potato. I personally don't think Clemons is starting material. Questionable tackling and no ball skills.

i like big hitters and guys with a nose for the ball so i would be all for this. could use some big plays from the safety position

Of course he is. Reshad fell so far in the draft it's disgraceful. He was an elite safety at UGA.

While Clemons isn't terrible, he has zero ball skills. Anyone remember the surefire INT that bounced off his hands, off his foot then bounced up into that hands of whoever the **** ( I was raging too badly) for a TD? Then against the Titans, Reshad comes in and has one INT and another INT that was out of bounds all in the span of two minutes? Reshad needs more playing time, I'm glad he is finally getting it.

I hope so. We need a ball hawking FS, and Chris Clemons is clearly not that guy. Just by going by their college & pro stats, Reshad Jones has a much better chance of being the ball hawking FS that we desperately need.

this gets me even more excited about this defense

hells yes man

your right. he is good depth at fs. he kept spiller in check week 1 last year

I thought he was a steal when Miami Took him that late

Please let him be a true ballhawk. This defense has been missing that since Surtain left. It cost us quite a few games last year, with dropped picks and such.
