Reshad Jones gonna win FS job?

I expected some noise from him this year. Good to see him stepping up.

I was really impressed with the extremely limited amount of playing time he got, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if hes another Wake type success story. The guy seems to be a gamer.

I think he's going to be the breakout player for Miami... they NEED his instincts and ability to make plays on the ball in the secondary to become an elite defense.

I have no idea how he fell as far as he did on draft day... this kid was a special talent in the secondary for UGA...

I don't really care who wins the starting the starting FS job, as long as it's the best guy. I like Clemons and Jones. I think Clemons is reliable and doesn't blow coverages too often. If he'd hold onto the ball last year I doubt we'd be having this competition. Jones might be the ballhawking DB that we've lacked for a long time. I think that is the only thing really keeping us from being an elite defense is that we don't bring down interceptions.

Wow...if he plays well and the light 4 Sean smith stops flickering and comes on.we have zero holes on defense!! (without injuries)correct me if I'm wrong..with at least a "decent" offense and special teams...wow..why not us this yr?

Did Reshad play SS at Georgia?

Jones has played both safety positions for Georgia... that's one of the reasons why he came out early...

Miami needs this kid starting in the secondary to be an elite defense... the type of defense that can change the game in one play.

While Clemons isn't terrible, he has zero ball skills. Anyone remember the surefire INT that bounced off his hands, off his foot then bounced up into that hands of whoever the **** ( I was raging too badly) for a TD? Then against the Titans, Reshad comes in and has one INT and another INT that was out of bounds all in the span of two minutes? Reshad needs more playing time, I'm glad he is finally getting it.

I don't see where guys are getting this new found concept that Clemons is Crowder out here. I, as much as anyone, want the best FS out there on the field as much as possible.

BUT this Clemons has no ball skills is borderline ignorant. He has no HANDS is what you mean to say. Clemons was around the ball plenty last season, but like Sean Smith dropped multiple picks he was in EXCELLENT position for. Now if Rashad has these hands that Clemons may or may not have, then id take him if he can find himself in the same or better positions. I was thinking more along the lines of a replacement for Bell, and having Clemons and Jones as our future combo.

Clemons lacks HANDS not ball skills. The guy is always around the ball.

I thought he was a steal when Miami Took him that late

Me too. I had him in my mock draft as our 3rd round pick. Was pissed when we passed on him 3 times in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Absolute steal imo and he'll prove that this year.

Jones was always a ball hawk one form or another. Clemons never was.

Yeah after the ball has already been caught or runner been tackled

I have not been a cCemon's fan since his start, While I respect the fact that he did vastly improve our secondary from the year before, I don't think he should retain the position when we have someone like Reshad who has the ability to go get balls and enforce the middle of the field. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uppzu_pGDc&feature=related
We need someone who not only qb's are afraid to test but also whom receivers are afraid to cross paths with.

barring he outplays Clemons this offseason...

I can show the same for Clemons. I'm not knocking Jones, I'd love for Jones to be the elite safety we need immediately. But everyone turning on Clemons because Jones shows some flashes. Some plays were so freak like the Bengals T.O. Touchdown that its impossible to replicate, thats kind of how our season was. I'm saying Clemons is young hes a 5th round pick, he did make our secondary better, and has the ability to find himself in great positions but needs to work on focusing on the catch. Its not like we need to replace Gerbil Wilson out there.

I recall reading Clemens got burned in 9 out of 10 balls thrown 30+ yards which was the worst in the NFL (PFF). Though he may have been near the ball, he did a poor job of containing big plays.
