Reshad Jones Needs to go Back to the Bench

Maybe if you had 3 pro-bowlers but Clemons plays the #1 playmaking position in the secondary. These days the good teams tend to have a free safety that is a threat to score. It's not like the rest of his game is good either - 10 missed tackles and 118 passer rating against him last season

Yeah and he was out of positon as much as Jones right.

BOTH are mediocre and both need to be benched.

One plays safe but never does much of anything. The other is always looking for the highlight reel and blows coverages.

We've needed a REAL STARTING FS for years now and instead we have sat there satisfied with what we have or tried to band aid the position.

Clemons was third on our team in Tackles, he was the voice behind the number 8 Pass Defense in the NFL. Now we look like the worst pass defense in the NFL and probably are.

Why does everyone think Jones is a playmaker??? He has done squat in his 2 starts except get burnt in coverage over and over again. He had 1 good game against Vince Young and gets a reputation as a playmaker.

Clemons may only be an average Safety but he's the brains behind the defense and helps prevent big plays. Sounds like something we can use at this point.

The thing is, that one good game is about one more good game than anyone else has had in our secondary. Vontae has had about 2 from my recollection (in at least 20 starts). Sean Smith has really had none where he made a difference. Same with Clemons.

So forgive us for thinking that a guy who made several great plays in his first real game action could possibly do that again.

Smith is a diffrence maker every game, by that I mean he's only given up I think 3 catches in the first 2 games. But I agree on you with Jones, let the dude learn.

Lol, people want to keep Jones in "to learn for his mistakes".

Yes, lets just sacrifice the entire season. Maybe by week 15 he will have one interception.

Are you serious??? Vontae has only had 2 good games??? Sean Smith is one of the better cover corners in football. You need to start watching games and stop looking off the stat sheet

They did it with Clemons last year. He single handledy lost a couple games due to his butter hands.

This season is already lost dude, very sad

Honestly dude, you have no clue what your talking about right now. Please list the games Clemons lost with his butter hands?

And the season is lost after playing possibly the #1 and #2 offenses in the NFL?

2 Games?

None of us like the play, but .... Who's going to play then?? (we didn't get anyone in Free Agency).

They all play anyway as they're rotated in & out ... last game we had no one, they were so tired & cramped up. Sooner or later we'll have injuries, & they'll be right back in.

We're already scraping the bottom of the barrel. Available DBs are just as bad & older.

Smith has still given up a TD pass and a pass to the half yard line. I do think that Smith is getting picked on less right now just because why throw his direction when you've got Andre Johnson on Nolan Carroll, or Wes Welker on Benny Sapp. He doesn't generate positive plays: no picks or big passes defensed in key situations.

Smith was ranked as a top 10 cover corner last year and this year he is continuing his progress.

I guess by your analysis Revis and Asomugha aren't great corners because they never get a lot of INTs.

Cincy.

Yeah 2 games, we suck on defense that is horribly overrated, only 3 or 4 good player on it, offense has some potential, but has to be consistent to be good. everybody else in our division is 2-0, werer 0-2, with a division loss, you really think we can beat any team in our division? I don't

I'd play Jones for a bit longer until Clemons is ready to play. We need Clemons out there to cover the top. He balances out our D. Well sort of. I don't think anything makes this D much better except for coaching.

So let me get this straight, last post you told me to stop looking at stats, then you are going to pull out some number that says Smith is a good corner? I think you've got it backwards. For as awesome as people may rate Smith's coverage, when QB's do challenge Smith he almost never even gets his hand on the ball, either for a pass defensed or an INT.
