I just wanted to comment on the whole "respect" thing from the media outlets, since I see this everywhere I go. Why do some fans feel the need to get approval from the national media? I just don't get it. I read forums from many different teams, and this is always the case.
Let me explain why it is a waste of time:
The "experts" are generally complete morons. I'm not being facetious. Specifically, the "journalists" who pretend they understand a sport that they never even played in high school are worthless. While there are intelligent people who can discern the intricacies of football without ever playing, generally the dweebs who went to college for journalism are not in that category.
Regular fans know the sport better. I'm serious. I come here for analysis of the Fins, and I go to Buffalo's official forums for news on them (This is the only place I have actually signed up for, to the best of my knowledge, because the fans here are pretty informative and engaging). I can figure out from there where the teams are.
Finally, respect is earned...on the field. If Peyton Manning says he is scared of the DL in Buffalo and Miami, who the heck cares what ESPN says about those d-lines?
Ladies and gentlemen, have fun this weekend. I think it is going to be a killer game. We will learn a lot about both teams, regardless of the final score. And let's face it, we don't know a whole lot about either team yet.
