I know there is no such thing as an easy game in the NFL but our once thought of as really tough schedule doesn't look as daunting as it did in the beginning of the year.

Jets (x2) 3-1 Bad example here because they are better then people thought. On the plus side Saints reminded everyone that they have a rookie QB

Saints 4-0 Okay another team that is playing a bit better then predicted

Pats (x2) 3-1 I don't care what their record says they are not the same Pats and we always play them tough regardless

Bucs 0-4 Straight garbage and hopefully we don't sleep on them and loss to a team we should beat, wouldn't be the 1st time as we all know

Panthers 0-4 Surprising bad, I think a lot of people had them competing with Atlanta for the division this year.

Bills 1-3 We just destroyed them

Jags 2-2 Not a great team but getting better and could give us fits

Titians 0-4 Who saw this coming?

Texans 2-2 Never beaten this team and this would be a great year to start

Steelers 2-2 Did anyone see them almost give up that huge lead to SD? I'm sure whatever their problems are will be worked out before we see them but still, looks better then it did.

17-23 thats the record of our remaining opponents. It's very possible we are past the hard part of our schedule already. Things change fast in this league so who knows what it will look like 4 or 5 weeks from now. The point is, as of right now we are in better shape then many might realize.

They're the best in the NFL right now. We're going to get throttled.

It'll be the "I Told You So Bowl" for Drew Brees

You might be right but hey who knows...maybe everything falls right and we win it. Sure would cancel out one of those early losses pretty quick.

I love your optimism. If we win the games we are suppost to and at least split the games with the Jets and the Pats the season could turn out quite a bit better than it seemed it would after last week. We just need to keep improving each week. I just hope Henne can maintain his cool against a much better Jets Defense next week.

Yeah we'll defiantly need a lot of balls to bounce our way in order to make a run like last year, but at least the schedule isn't as imposing as it seemed.

Hey thanks for this post! I didn't realize how different our schedule looks now that the season is thru week 4. If we play like we did against the Bills and Henne continues to develop, quickly hopefully, I think we have a legitimate shot of getting in the playoffs this year. Here's my prediction.. if we beat the Bucs, Panthers, Jags, and Texans, we make it to the post-season. If we beat those teams, games we should be favored in, I think we will at least get 3 more wins in our division games. Right now it's all about beating the Jets on Monday night which will make us 2-0 in our division. This season suddenly looks a little more manageable.

Great post man, Thanks!!

Yeah, even with the horrible start we still have a chance. We pretty much control our own destiny if we can somehow go 3-1 vs the Jets and Pats. Its too bad the Steelers are struggling because if they could have wrapped up the division that would have been a free win for us week 17. The way its shaping up now week 17 might be a must win for them just for a wildcard spot, so our free win becomes an auto loss.

There's always a shot, and our chances seem better than they did; we have the foundations of a very solid team here. That said, don't be too quick to write off this monster schedule. It's a long road to the playoffs.

This is true, but the prob is so has NE schedule just gotten much easier and everyone else.

so our free win becomes an auto loss.

Not true at all... no game is an auto-loss for us... our team could possibly be playing for a playoff spot as well... that is NOT an auto-win for them or an auto-loss for us... tough game for us, yes but winnable.

I agree. If we play solid D and pound the rock the I see it as follows;

Split the games with the Pats and Jets, beatthe Bills, Buccs, Titans, Panthers, Jags and Texans. Lose to the Saints and Steelers

= 9-7

When you say, "The steelers will have worked out their problems by then," you really mean to say, "The steelers will have Polamalu back."

I think 9-7 would be a great achievement, from where we were at 0-3, but I think it's realistic.
We can split with the Pats and Jets, sweep the Bills, and beat the Bucs, Texans (for the first time? lol), Panthers, Jags, and Titans?
How do you guys like our chances against the rest of the South?

Our OL is only going to get better with experience. A new C calling the plays and RG is basically a rookie.
Henne, I'm believing, is going to get better too.
Without question, we are becoming dominant at stopping the run.
Atl and SD are as strong as they come. Even F. Jackson has been running real well, and with Lynch back, we dominated them all.
I think this year, we are going to make most of the these opponents one dimensional and leaving the outcomes of most games on our pass rush and secondary.
Wake, Smith, and Vontae should keep improving and we will be in good shape.

My only problem right now is Wilson. I think he is a SS and maybe he is missing so many tackles because he isn't used to making them while running around so much in space?
I think starting 2 SS hurt us against Manning and Rivers.
Does anyone know how Clemons is developing?
I'm hoping that long term, he turns out big for us.
