Full disclosure: count me as one of those fans who felt we should have given Mathis the money and be done with it. However after seeing what our backup left tackle situation is like I actually think we should take that money and bring in a swing left tackle who can fill in for Albert for four games when he'll be ready to play. When Albert comes back we've got a solid back up at both tackles. Who's out there that is available?

There are no available left tackles that you would give 5 mil to. lol

I agree with you. One player that we can get cheap is Jake Long. lol, I know but if he could hold up for a couple game then we might have something?!? Humm .... Could Long play guard? Last a big what if Long get healthy again?!?

You aren't going to find a serviceable LT get cut. You don't cut that

You're not going to find a left tackle at the Dollar Store and any LTs worth their salt are already on teams.

Jonathan Martin :chuckle:

Ummm...No, I suck severely, don't waste your money on me...Besides, Richie is pretty angry, and Mother will not be around to protect me.

looking at our T depth, I have to believe we have some chance to bolster said depth either by a trade or waiver pickup

That's all I'm saying. assuming BA is not back in three weeks, and Foxx is still out with a concussion, is anybody comfortable with the opening-day starter at left tackle being.......(fill in 3rd string LT here)?

I didn't think so.

What are we going to do at this position if first (BA) and second (JF) string are out? RT is going to be running for his life.

Still have 20 days until kickoff . . . I doubt Fox will still be out with a concussion, but I get what you are saying.

I'm fully prepared to be without Branden Albert until after the bye week . . . giving him until Sunday, October 18th. I think by then he should be good to go. Have to find a way to go 3-1 / 4-0 those first 4 games. We'll be favored in all 4 games.

I think we could bring in a reasonable backup maybe a step above fox. Might have to pull some strings but it really is a need at this point. Fox is not the answer as backup even if healthy. Albert isn't gonna be ready for week 1 I have a feeling. He might feel like he is but after the delmas injury they I'm sure are feeling wary about Albert. We all know philbin gets nervous and gunshy so I expect him to sit until the bye week. If it were a contract year they'd probably let him play but he's under contract for a while longer.
