I just noticed that we had 10 returns for td's against us last year, 8 by interceptions. Thats one every other game. I guess if we can limit the "gift giving"' then we should be back in playoff contention this year. I still think we have upgraded more posistions than we have downgraded.

Only problem is we downgraded just about the whole secondary, the LB's and DL should be fine.

I think a solid line with solid linebackers behind them will make the secondary look a lot less exposed. I would still like to upgrade the safety spot, but I think with pressure, our corners will be fine.

You look further into that stat...about 5 of those return TDs came in the final 4 minutes of the game and furthermore, I think 4 of them came when we were up and then lost the game because of these.

Every damn game it seemed to happen. A.J./Jay throwing away our chances like that. It hurt :(

Don't forget our D will have a different look this year as far as our schemes. Our CB situation may not be as dire as most think.

:yeahthat:

It all starts at the DT posistion. Thats when things went south for us defensively. If we can hold our opponents to a 3rd and 6 and then get some pass rush, we will be fine. We were allowing like 5 yards a carry last year and then we had to commit too much of the secondary to runstopping and thats when all the big plays screwed us.

We got rid of just about all our INT's last year. Surtain, Knight, and Freeman were responsible for most of them. We will be running a different Defense, and it won't be like last year. And no matter what, we always seemed to give up a big play in the passing game year in and year out when we needed a big play, so maybe this new scene will be good for us.
