Disgruntled
I don't know how many of you remember this but a couple of years ago (2006) the Dolphins found themselves in a similar situation at this point in the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars looming on the schedule and a chance to bring themselves back in the race with a win.
It was Nick Saban's team back then, and the Dolphins had one of their usual slow starts.....except this time they REALLY buried themselves at 1-6 right off the bat. After a bye week and a HUGE road win over the eventual NFC Champion Chicago Bears the Dolphins reeled off four straight including a win on Thanksgiving over the miserable Lions. They'd be 5-6 now, heading into home game against the 6-5 Jaguars that would be vital in determing who'd win the Wildcard.
Joey Harrington at this point was our QB, and he'd really provided us with a spark, so we were riding pretty high going into the game.
Unfortunately the game didn't go our way. Jacksonville came out and really beat the hell out of us. They picked off Joey twice, they sacked him four times. They ran the ball well with Jones-Drew and Taylor combining for over 100 yards and a TD. Garrard was very efficient, he threw for 2 TD's. We really came out flat, losing 24-10.
After that our season spiraled completely out of control and we lost 3 of the final four to finish up at 6-10.
That loss undoubtedly took the wind out of our sails. A home loss to a team directly ahead of you in the standings? Crushing.
We need to make the Jags feel the pain they caused us that year, this sunday.
and i have a feeling we will......
