OK, lets be honest, this has been a crappy day for Fins fans. Jets, Pats, and Bills win and we lose. As bad as this game looked their were still some postives from it.

QB- Gus Frerotte played an average game. 21/33 with 2 TD's is pretty good however those 3 INT's hurt us (the 2nd one in priticular). There were a couple of over throws, but for the most part Gus played a decent game.
Final Grade C
RB- I think it's safe to say that Ronnie Brown is not I repeat not a bust. Brown had a great game today running, recieving, and blocking (did you see that one block on Sam Adams). That fumble (which was a bad call) at the end sealed the deal, but in reality if it wasn't for stupid pentalites the game wouldn't have come down to that play. Heath Evans had a pretty good day as well.
Final Grade A-
WR and TE Good day by Chambers, (does have to hold on to the better) Booker and Welker. Randy McMichael did a pretty good job blocking and had that one nice catch, however, that taunting penalty really cost us big. Even though I don't think the taunt desereved a penalty (Terrel Owens gets away with worse) it was very immature of Randy, the guy really needs to grow up. Diamond and Heller all had good games.
Final Grade B
OL- No Veron Carey today(to my knowledge), that scares me alittle. Seth McKinney had less then his usually 6 false starts a game, so thats good. Rex Hadnot had way to many penalities and Alonzo Ephriem should be fired tommorrow for that stupid penilty in the 1st quater. The line played better then last year, but still needs to get alot better if we want to be playing in mid January.
Final Grade C-/D+
DLine- Good game by the starters. Taylor had a couple offsides penalites, but for what he brings to the table I can live with a couple offsides calls. David Bowens however, is another story. 2 Stupid penalities by a guy doesn't do very much is unacceptable.
Final Grade B+
LB- Thomas had his usual good game (11 tackles). Seau and Crowder were quiet but didn't do anything to hurt us so thats good. Donnie Spargan had a couple stupid penalties that shouldn't of happened (Hello Sam Adams is a fat piece of crap that isn't going to catch anything).
Final Grade B
Secondary- Sam Madison has clearly lost a step, (or 7) he's clearly our best back but gets beat way to much and gets penalized way to much as well. The rest of the corners weren't jaw dropping bad (missed the Evans play so I don't know who to blame). Danials didn't have a great game but he's a 4th round rookie who shouldn't be starting (he'll still be a good corner for us one day) so I'll go easy on him.
ST- It's probably safe for Ed Perry to quit his job at Wal-Mart right now because John Denney should be released. Denney had two bad snaps and hasn't really been to great on the season. That return in the fourth hurt us really bad. Welker was OK today.
Final Grade C-

If it wasn't for penalities, turnovers, and missed turnovers we probably would have blown out the Bills. For a stupid as we played, we still had a change to win the game on the last play. The Bills are a below average team who should have put us away alot alot longer then they did. Even though 2 losses in the divison hurt, we will get our wins back from the Jets and Bills (I'd bet my house on it). However, I believe that Saban needs to send a strong message to the team. If I were Saban (which I'm not) I would release John Denney, Alonzo Ephreim, Jesse Chatman (he's gone anyway Ricky's back), and David Bowens. Saban needs to make a stand about the penalty problem that we have.

Id downgrade some of those grades. I think the O-line was a D- or an F. They played pretty bad. I also think we need a #1 WR. I like Chambers but I think we need more to compliment him. There were a few drops by WR's today. I also thought Gus PLayed bad, especially taking that sack at the end, as well as the INT in the endzone.

Otherwise good post with good insight.

I'm cool with all of your grades except of the Secondary grade.
AFAIK Sam wasnt flagged today. He did an outstanding job against Moulds where everybody was expecting a flag.
On that long pass in the 1st half, K. Thomas had the Coverage and slipped. Thats the only reason why Evans could gain that much yardage after the catch.

When they put 8 in the box on us, Chambers needs to catch 12 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs. That's what he's paid to do.

Thank you, I agree with the online but for the most part I think the penalites killed us. Gus I thought had an average game. The 3 INT's hurt, but he had some good clutch plays (the 1rst down run).

OK, who was the guy that slipped on the Lee Evans play? I thought it was Reggie but someone brought up that it might be Jackson, #35? anyone get a definitive view?

Madison was flagged on a hook near the close sideline guarding Moulds.

agree with the marks besides the O-line mark. They are just horrible. Showed their talent in the last two plays of the game. A regular 3 and 4 man rush looked like an all out blitz that we could not pick up leading to 2 sacks. McDougle is so overrate and our guards got worked today up the middle by backup DT's. Ridiculous. D- rating

I would also downgrade the defensive line to a C+ because they didn't get that much pressure on the QB and had to many penalties resulting in short yardage first downs.

I'll give the O-line a "B" for their play BUT they get downgraded to a "C-" because of penalties.

I'll give the coaching a "D-". Linehan got outclassed by Jerry Gray today. We did'nt attack the middle of the field nearly enough. Did'nt run it nearly enough (that was partially to do with the score).

Our special teams were poor today as well. The bad snap led to points. Allowing that long return in the 4th quarter was a killer and led to points.

Overall good analysis. Our secondary definitely improved and that to me was the most positive thing to take away from the game. The offensive line did its job for the most part in pass protection (It only broke down when it was obvious we were in passing mode). The run blocking is still weak. Ronnie had too many loss for yards runs for my liking but overall he showed he's the real deal.

The one area I disagree with is your analysis of Gus. I thought if you just tokk the 4th quarter he had a B rating. But if you factored in the the first 3 qrtrs he had to get an F. There is no way a QB can have a grade of C throwing 3 interceptions ( let's not forget he got lucky on that one that hit the turf). I've been saying for weeks now that defenses are figuring out how to play Gus and it was never more evident than today when the Bills defensive backs were jumping his reads. He is getting less and less effective every week and by midseason we will have a new starter

Saban needs to review the film on this game and fine everyone who made a stupid penalty. We're not good enough to spot anyone 18 penalties and over 100 FREE yards.

agreed, I also think Saban should think about firing some people to get his point across

Penalties aside the O-line did not PLAY poorly. RB ran the ball well and the Bills only got pressure when they blitzed.
