2005
1 RB Ronnie Brown (2)
2 DE Matt Roth (46)
3 LB Channing Crowder (70)
4 CB Travis Daniels (104)
5 OT Anthony Alabi (162)
7 DT Kevin Vickerson (216)
None from this draft is even on the team. RB if he could have stayed healthy would have been the one bright spot. Roth and Crowder were serviceable, but unspectacular. Saban was an idiot for drafting Daniels. Much like other Dolphin players, Vickerson went on to better things elsewhere in the league.

2006
Rd Selection (overall)
1 DB Jason Allen (16)
3 WR Derek Hagan (82)
4 OL Joe Toledo (114)
7 DT Frederick Evans (212)
7 DT Rodrique Wright (226)
This draft total sucked. Everyone was a bum.

2007
1 WR Ted Ginn Jr. (9)
2 QB John Beck (40)
2 C Samson Satele (60)
3 RB Lorenzo Booker (71)
4 NT Paul Soliai (108)
6 FB Reagan Mauia (181)
7 LB Kelvin Smith (219)
7 P Brandon Fields (225)
7 LB Abraham Wright (238)
Ginn had to be one of the worst picks ever made by the organization. Satele is a solid player on another team. The only one still on the team is Soliai.

2008
1 LT Jake Long (1)
2 DE Philip Merling (32)
2 QB Chad Henne (57)
3 DE Kendall Langford (66)
4 OG Shawn Murphy (110)
5 RB Jalen Parmalee (176)
6 OL Donald Thomas (195)
6 RB Lex Hilliard (204)
7 DE Lionel Dotson (245)
Not a bad draft, but we could have done better. We hit on Long, Hillard and Langford. Sorry, but Henne is/was never the player he was supposed to be. Merling has not lived up to his pick.

2009
1 CB Vontae Davis (25)
2 QB Pat White (44)
2 CB Sean Smith (61)
3 WR Patrick Turner (87)
4 WR Brian Hartline (108)
5 TE John Nalbone (161)
5 S Chris Clemons (165)
6 OL Andrew Gardner (181)
7 LB J.D. Folsom (214)
This would have been a pretty good draft if it was not for the Pat White pick. And if I hear one more time that Sean Smith is one of the better CBs in the league, I think I am going to puke.

2010
1 DE Jared Odrick (28)
2 LB Koa Misi (40)
3 OL John Jerry (73)
5 CB Nolan Carroll (145)
5 S Reshad Jones (163)
7 LB Chris McCoy (212)
7 LB Austin Spitler (252)
Odrick is the only guy that plays like an NFL player, the rest are bums.

So out of 45picks we got 9 players. That is a whopping 20% - that is pathetic

I dont know why I decided to read this thread - its just making a depressing season even more depressing lol.
This is why we are a basement team in the NFL, we dont draft well.

for the 2010 draft, i like Odrick, and so far Misi starts, Carroll has started, Jones starts, Spitler is core special teams, Jerry comes in for Vernon when Vernon stubs a toe. I'm not saying any of them are great players, but that is a lot more production than your summation would indicate.

and let's review ireland's first draft in charge as well:

Mike Pouncey
Daniel Thomas
Clyde Gates
Charles Clay
Frank Kearse
Jimmy Wilson

looks about 83.333% successful at this point.

I think Jason "Jamar Fletcher Jr." Allen was the absolute worse pick. At least with Ginn there was a chance he could do something productive in a game.

If we don't draft a good QB I will kill my hamster

but lets get rid of ireland!!!!! our first good draft since jimmy johnson. with some of the guys on this roster, they should have found a place for kearse as well. but he can be replaced. right now the worst pick looks like gates. and at that point in the draft, with his speed, and our lack of speed - it was still a no brainer. gates hasnt shown me anything, if hes going to become a player, hes going to need time to develop.

the poster said 2008 was a good draft. it was an AWFUL draft. we were picking first in every single round AND had an additional 2nd round pick thanks to randy mueller. the ONLY good pick we made was kendall langford. Merling was essentially a first rounder, and an obvious Parcells pick (parcells type of player). plus the choice to take a left tackle #1 when a quarterback was needed (the reasoning - Henne "was cheaper" in Parcells OWN WORDS). they got Long to agree to a contract less than the previous #1 overall pick and thats why they took him. TERRIBLE draft. if not for the Langford pick A COMPLETE BUST OUT in a draft with extra picks extra 2nd and 7th because of Mueller and picking at the top of every round.

the parcells era got off with a bang with a bunch of ****ty picks

Misi is mediocre at best. Just because Carroll, Jones, Spitler, and Jerry play does not mean that they should. If your going by this FO's talent evaluation, that is like saying we should let Obama decide what is best for the economy.

first of all, all these guys were 5th round picks and beyond, besides jerry (who was sparanos pick) and they werent drafted when ireland was in control of the draft, lets look at this year. by the very nature of a 5th round pick - there are question marks -generally they need time to develop. does anybody have confidence that sparano knows even one thing about player development????

i missed the misi thing. misi isnt a great pass rusher, he has been very good at setting the edge. he hasnt developed yet. he may become a piece. he might not, its not clear either way yet

Those barren years definitely set us back awhile, but it's not like we've drafted all that well the entire past decade. Sure, the last few have been pretty decent, but from 99-07, they were all pretty bad, getting second rate parts to fix a first rate problem.
