Revis’ Swagger Stolen, DB Suspects Vontae Davis

I think you're point on the NY market is dead-on but I disagree with it in this case.. as a Dolphin fan in NJ, I see all of the Jets' games and I personally think Revis is the best and deservedly so... he consistently shuts down every... every... great WR that they face. If you don't see that, you aren't watching.

well, i am not in on the whole "were the best tandem" thing at all spouted by vontae. but i will say this.........

DERRELL REVIS IS THE MOST OVER RATED CB IN THE NFL!!!!

now, before you go offf with all the tired "do you even watch football" comments, i am not saying the guy sucks, far, far from it. but take away the jets innovative, swarming, get to the qb at all cost defense and see how much of that "best in the game" hype stays around.

how do i rate a truelly good cb? where are you when the blitz doesnt get there? are you in the wr face all over the field or are you left in the dust or standing in a vacated spot on the field scratching your head?

i see the the later for revis. sorry, but MOST of the time he faces the TOP wr's in the leauge like moss, andre johnson, brandon marshall, etc..... his hamstring is bad or some other excuse.

we have a highly rated defense but we are not leading the leauge in sacks. our pass rush is off and on. so, at this point, if i had a team with a middle of the road defense, or even a POOR defense, i would want vontae as my cb over revis. vontae doesnt have as much success from pass rush as revis does. hes a better blitzer and better agaisnt the run.

and i dont think anyone on this board will accuse me of being a blind, pie in the sky finz homer. vontae is NOT the best cb in the nfl [yet] but he can handle a wr like moss better and deal with his guy longer when the rush isnt happening.

revis plays in the new york market where EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY is hyped and revis is no different. if the new york hacks and espn ratings junkies were saying cromartie was the best in the nfl, same people would all be buying into it. people see what they want to see much of the time, expecially when its their favorite team. some fans repeat whatever is being said by sports reporters, bloggers or gurus to make up for there nfl knowledge impotence or to appear "in the know".

revis benefits from ALL of this.

so one more time before the flamage, I WOULD HAVE DERELL ON THIS TEAM, any day. but he IS NOT the best cb in the nfl, not at all.

Wow. That is one of the most misguided posts I've ever read.

You probably never realized this, but the Jets defense is one of the worst in the league at generating pressure on the QB. We finished 9th in sacks, but 27th in pressures. The great majority of those sacks were coverage sacks. The only way we generate pressure is by sending six. If we didn't have Revis, we wouldn't be able to do that as often as we do. The defense Rex Ryan is running right now is not the same one he ran in Baltimore. Revis' presence in the secondary allows him to be far more exotic with the front 7 than he was in Baltimore. Good thing too, because the Jets front 7 is not as talented as the Ravens front 7, but Rex's schemes have been able to compensate for that. Anyway, Davis and Smith benefit more from pressure on the QB than Revis and Cromartie do.

where was revis' swagger when he was getting burnt by moss and blamed it on his hammy? vontae was shutting moss down as a rookie

Moss had a TD and like 120+ yards on Vontae in the first meeting back in 09.

real >heel >heel> ly damn what happen with Ginn ? oh yeah hes an elete wr . lmao

Junc always says it was the safety who blew that play.....uh huh

But actually I've read an article that says rex puts revis in a bad position cause he uses man to man coverage therefore teams use a lot of picks set by wr's to free up his man..And that we are gonna see a lot more of it in 2011..That will cause rex to send some help revises way if he gets picked off the line by a slot WR or TE.
