Revis tells Vontae "Check game tape..."

So in response to Vontae saying he thought him and Sean Smith are the best CB tandem in the NFL, Darrel Revis on NFL.COM goes on to say he thinks him & Cromartie are the best and that Vontae and Sean have a few more years until they can say that about themselves and that V. Davis needs to check game film. I hate the Jets and Revis so much.
 
I love Vontae but he has no business even suggesting that they are the best tandem in football. I guess I just believe that if you really are the best, you don't have to tell the world because others will take notice not by what you say but by what you do. I really believe they are going to be much improved but all we can go in is the 2010 season and what sticks out to me more than anything about Davis and Smith is how many dropped INT's they had. Sure they played very well for most of the season but all of those dropped INT's (some of which were easy pick 6's) drove me crazy. It's hypocritical that we get all fired up when Rex makes outrageous proclamations but when one of our own does, it's just that he's confident and believes in himself/his teammates. I'm rooting for Vontae and Smith to live up to the hype but as of right now, no tandem is better than Revis and Cromartie or whoever is playing alongside of Revis. He's just that great.
 
I am so sick of the JETS and their PAPER CHAMPIONS mentality!!!! All they do is talk and have done absolutely nothing!!!!!
 
@Kippy- Before Junc gets in here and says something. You might want to check that statement. The Jets have gone farther than us in the last two seasons. So while I too believe that losing in the AFC championship game two years in a row is nothing to brag about, they have done more than us.

As for Vontae running his mouth, let him. He either puts up or shut up. Popping off at the mouth has worked for the Jets so far, it couldn't hurt for some of our guy to try.

actually, by him saying this, now the world is looking at the tape.
they are comparing. they should notice that vontae has done very well.

I dont mind vontae saying this becuase one) he himself has already backed this up 2) he is showing the world he has confidence that smith is going to step up his game this year.

they are set out to make some new tape. meanwhile....we have 4 WR's who are now capable of making these guys look avg IMO. Bush will be huge diff maker. Then the world will then have to start paying attention. But famous QB's like Brady and Farve already know about davis.
 
All I know is...he let Ted Ginn score a Touchdown on his A$*...nuff said

but we are not talking about the jets and dolphins as a whole. we are talking about the cb tandems. and didnt the jets look to get rid of cromartie and get asomuouga? that kind a tells ya somthing
 
one thing is for sure. there is no better tackling corner in the league than vonte davis.

I see where you are coming from and can agree with most of what you are saying. Here is the problem IMO: while Vontae has done very well, Revis is playing out of this world. There is no CB on his level. The guy is constantly matched up with the other teams #1 and shuts them down plain and simple (See Reggie Wayne's 1 catch for 1 yd performance in last year's playoffs) I like that he is showing confidence in Sean and I do believe that this group will be much better. I just think that making those comments in August and knowing what we know from last year makes it laughable.
 
Revis is right. Vontae, as much as I love the guy, needs to pipe until he and Smith prove more.

Dude, are you serious? I love my Dolphins . . . but we're talking about V. Davis saying that he and Smith are the best CB tandem when neither has sniffed a Pro Bowl, playoff birth . . . or really anything of any significance. We're good at CB. Don't get me wrong. But Revis is THE BEST IN THE GAME and has been a major part of two teams that have made in to the conference finals, and you're calling him out for talking BS and doing nothing?

we'll see whats laughable. This defense is going to be much better particularly in coverage. It is going to make plays. Revis has had that advantage to have a defense that he can count on so he can do his thing. Whatever the talk is about August, this defense was ranked 6th last year. Thats with crowder (a huge liability in coverage on TE) and rookies injured and first and second year guys playing. Now we have one more year experience in this defense with upgrades and SMITH IS SAID TO HAVE DONE A LOT OF GROWING UP THIS OFFSEASON AND HE KNOWS WHAT HIS MISTAKES ARE AND HE IS SET OUT TO BE A MUCH BETTER PLAYER INSTEAD OF TWEETING CRAP.

So Davis is not just saying he thinks they are the best tandem, but that this defense (who gets no respect whatsoever) will kill this year.

I CANT WAIT FOR THEM TO PROVE IT! ITS GOING TO BE FUN TO WATCH!
