Even though I would never want him as a QB for the dolphins, he is no longer on the free agent market as he signed a one year deal with the Bears today.

From KFFL.com:
Bears | Grossman agrees to one-year contract

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract with QB Rex Grossman. The contract includes incentives based on playing time and performance. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

From Yahoo Sports:
CHICAGO (AP)—Quarterback Rex Grossman signed a one-year contract Saturday with the Chicago Bears and will compete for the starting job.

This has no bearing on the phins at all. So Grossman decided to stay in Chicago where they have no QB talent and try and grease out a starting spot by default and have a miracle season(which for him would be to have a decent year by NFL standards) and try and get lucky and sign a multi year deal as someones starter next year. Good luck to him. Im sure his attempt will fail and he will sign a multi year backup deal somewhere next year. No one was going to sign him as a starter this year and he and his agent found that out(Im sure they figured that but, they made sure and checked it out). So he made the best move he could.

I never wanted him either.

There's probably no one out on the market who's any better than Rex though. Unless they tried to trade for a proven starter like McNabb or something. Rex knows the offense, is familiar enough with the team to be worth re-signing. Is he great? No, is he good, perhaps not. But he's an average player, he can manage games when that team is healthy enough to be good, and eventually he'll be a pretty good backup. I'd imagine they look at a QB in the draft and keep Rex as a starter.
