Hadnot does not give up sacks... but at center, he no longer run-blocks well. He was #15 in the league last year, at Guard. Rex Hadnot is now ranked the worst run-blocking center in the NFL.

Running through Hadnot is 3.36 YPC.

Running around all 4 other players is over 5 YPC. Why we follow the league average of 50% runs up the middle, and through the center, is beyond me. This is our worst hole to run through... and yet it is our most frequently used.

last year Locklear was their best offensive lineman of the year. Even though he was by far the worst offensive linemen on the Seahawks starting lineup.

I put VERY little stock in their grading system

But it's a decent question whether Hadnot is the center we'd hoped he'd be...and that has nothing to do with stats.

RT Locklear was ranked 7th in YPC last year (for right-tackles) @ 4.71 YPG. This was #3 on the team. The left-side with Walter Jones, etc.. didn't rank too highly. I'm not too familiar with Seattle, though.

This year, Tom Ashworth replaced Locklear. He is 25th in the league, with 3.27 YPC. This number has slightly improved since week 3 (2.73 YPC).

exactly, that is why I don't put much on that site. Locklear is not very good.

Last week was Ashworth's first start.

Sometimes Hadnot makes an excellent block and drives his guy back. Sometimes he totally misses his block.

I think he really needs to improve his ability to go after linebackers.

I'm not so sure I put much stock in those stats & rankings. As long as our OL plays like they did against the Bears, no sacks and 160+ yards running, I have no problem with any of the OL. I think OL is the most teamwork laden section of the team.

well, honestly he's not a natural center anyways...

I don't think Hadnot "stinks".
IMO, Hadnot is just out of his best position.

He has not handled his move to Center anywhere near how everyone thought he would. He's clearly struggled. Center is a complex position. This is one area where we NEED to find a talent in the draft.

HADNOT's short arms make it difficult for him to shed blocks and hit the 2d level [LBs] ... it also makes it a challenge to double team at times ....

If memory serves me correctly CK mentioned something about the line playing better against a 3-4 than a 4-3.

Well if I were to do a half***ed assesment of that, maybe a part of that is because Hadnot is not that good at blocking linebackers but much better at blocking a guy when he is right in front of him. In 4-3 the center is generally free and is the one a lot of the times for runs up the middle blocks the linebacker or even pulls. One thing I have noticed from hadnot is that he isn't that great in finding a guy to block in open space. However if that guy is right in front of him and he gets his hands on him, good night.

Would certainly make sense, since he's slow as molasses but pretty powerful.

Did you know he ran the slowest 40 time out of anyone at the 2004 NFL Combine?

was his shuttle drill bad as well? He seems to not be able to change directions well.

I thought Rex Hadnot was starting to become a very good RG for us last year. The thought of him at C this year was a promising one at first, but once the season started, he wasn't all I expected him to be, nobody was for that matter....

He's better off moving back to RG next year. Center simply isn't his calling at this level in my opinion....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

25th in the league for Locklear is not very good this year. Agreed. It appears he has declined since last year.

If Ashworth took over last week. It appears Seatle only ran the ball to the right of Ashworth once last week for 0 gain. I will have to re-study Ashworth in a month. As his was a name mentioned this off-season, to come to the dolphins, he is interesting.

The thing is, Locklear is playing about as well as he was last year. Without the completely dominate left side, he just has been exposed more.
