Ok I know I will get tons of heat about this one and it's a personal opinion after all and we're all entitled to them. IMO Rex Ryan is a better coach. Mind you I said Coach. He is a duffus when it comes to News conference and stupid comments. The players love to play for him and the reports regarding Harbaugh is he is not well liked in the locker room. Ok now for accomplishments. Yes the 49ers did make it to the Superbowl and were contenders for the first 3 years but he had a good RB, QB's that were better than both the Sanchize and Geno Smith and if anyone says otherwise they are delusional. They had better WR in Crabtree, Boldin , ( I think Randy Moss as well), plus a top TE. Now for the Defense. Rex Ryan had some Playmakers but for the most part it was just great scheme because his Defense is still stout.

Harbaugh has has an amazing Defense. I'd take almost any players in the 9ers D over the Jets with the exception of Revis of course.

In conclusion, yes the Jets are horrid this year at 2-11 but the 49ers aren't doing too hot either. Rex Ryan with this Defense, running game and RT at the realm will do wonders. Plus, he can beat the Patriots!

Anyone who wants to bring Rex Ryan here has to get their prescription drugs refilled and their eyes examined.

The grass is not always greener...

Saban was a better coach in every way that Ryan and look how that ended up.

There is much more to being a good Head coach than just being a good DC.

Respectfully and completely disagree.

Rex Ryan had a top 5 defense and running game as was competitive. Harbugh turned that team into a winner, and has won every he's been. Once Rex Ryan's cupboard started to get old and deplete, he failed to restock and here we are. His win % has adjusted to under .500, and he's soon to be out of the job.

I don't want a coach that "every play loves", I want a coach that wins.

The only thing he's better at is sucking toes

I think both have major issues with personnel and way too much influence on draft picks and personnel acquisition. Harbaugh has made some major blunders since his 2011 season when he entered the NFL. Rex Ryan has almost exclusively concentrated his efforts concerning personnel on the defensive side of the ball cause the offensive to reach it's current putrid level. I also don't think Rex has a clue about offense...a la Cam Cameron who never even went to defensive meetings when he was head coach here...I imagine Rex is not very involved on the offensive side of the ball.

Both are outstanding coaches, I'd be incredibly afraid of Miami if you got either of them.

I for one would embrace Ryan as a head coach. I might facepalm at some of his press conferences, but at least we would be able to stop the run.

Someone please tell me how anyone can actually type on a keyboard that Rex Ryan is a "great coach"!!! 6 Years and a losing record!!! and we are all on here bitching about Philbin after 3 years??? So you want to replace him with someone who has an even worse record....and label them as a great option as our HC???

Put him as our DC and I am fine.

Totally agree with junc here. Both are great. Rex has had no help from his DG and for most of the games. the Jets are in it. Most of all, the players are playing for him which I'm not sure about Philbin. Harbaugh is great but I'm not sure players like his approach. Either choice is better than Philbin. Looks to be a great person but just not a great coach.

Yeah, we'd stop the run....but wouldn't be able to do anything on Offense bc he'd bring back Pat Devlin and insert him as our starter.

To me Rex is a glorified DC. He sucks as a HC plus is a complete jerk which runs in the family starting with his dad. His dad did fine as a DC with a bunch of pro bowlers of course but then sucked as a HC.
