The Miami Dolphins claimed defensive lineman Quinton Coples off waivers Tuesday, but Dolphins vice president Mike Tannenbaum, who drafted Coples with the New York Jets' first-round pick in 2012, wasn't alone in his pursuit of Coples.

The Buffalo Bills also placed a waiver claim on Coples, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates, but since the Dolphins have a worse record, they had priority on the waiver wire.

"Well, I'm a little upset with Tannenbaum because, yeah, I wanted him," Bills coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday of Coples. "I mean, obviously the guy's a talent. You know I know him extremely well, and I think he would have fit in with the group that we have."

Well too bad, Rex.. just too freaking bad!!

I'm shocked somehow the Patriots didn't get him.

He's definitely not a Billechick type player,

not to mention that the Pats already have a good DE

I don't exactly recall QC being the 2nd coming of JT under Rex in NYC.

Maybe, they interviewed the Rex from Earth 2? (reference to The Flash on the CW)

How can you say Coples is not a "Belichick player"? He signed Blount after he walked off on the Steelers. He signed Haynesworth and Chad Johnson. He takes chances on guys and see if they come around in his culture.

Coples was a bad fit for what the Jets were doing. That is why he was kicked out. Plus, Bowles was making a "statement" after their loss to Houston. It was joke to make Coples the sacrificial lamb.

Agree w/ Belichick's MO???? With all the borderline ethical BS floating out Foxboro, 'redeeming' a malcontent gives the media another reason to praise the patriot way.

Lets see what he can do. And if he plays well.....we can enjoy the fact that we kept him out of Buffalo.

Tannenbaum just took him to spite Rex. That is all this is. I hope he can become a good player for us.

I always thought Couples would be a bear in the 4-3. Guess I will get to see if I was right or not.

Either way not a bad move by Fins to get a cheap look at a player specially seeing the 7.5 next year is guaranteed for injury only.

Pats didnt put in claim and with the injury possiblility its not something that Belichek does. He is very calculated in his moves.
Thier defense has been working just fine of late and the possibility of being on the hook for 7 million next year is just not the way he does business
