Rgiii vs luck vs tannehill vs weeden

I agree with WV and I don't believe there was any intent of racist remarks at all. The facts are there and I can't determine a reason either. If the reason is that pocket passers are more successful than scrambling or dual threat QBs then I could see that ... has nothing to do with color as white scrambling or dual threat QBs are not likely to be as successful in the NFL either. I like Cam's chances (not just because I am an Auburn fan ... sorry WV!) but because he impressed me with changing the way he led his team last year. If anything his problem will be that the Panthers are not the best team and I'm not sure they will turn around quickly. Cam's biggest thing to work on is his maturity ... don't sulk when you throw a pick or have to punt ... QBs need short memories.

Most successful black NFL QBs that come to mind: Doug Williams, Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, and Steve McNair. Could throw McNabb and Culpepper in there but I am not a big fan of either but they were considered relatively successful.
Maybe I am naive but I don't believe the issue is color but maybe successful black college QBs are transitioned to other positions as it was believed they didn't fit the QB mold ... that was prb the old school way of thinking and not as much now. I do think that we will see another black QB win the superbowl in the next ten years but at the moment would only say Cam Newton is the only current player I see doing it. Of course a lot of white QBs wont be winning one either.

Andrew Luck looked just like he did at Stanford. I can't imagine why anyone would be suprised by how he looked.... and he did it against a starting NFL defense. His feel for pressure was at an elite level for an NFL quarterback while he was still in college, but it goes beyond that. Luck is virtually the same caliber of athlete as Cam Newton, except he's a better and more consistent decision maker. It was a no brainer to me for the Colts to ship Peyton off and build around this kid.

Ryan Tannehill was poised and accurate. Didn't face any pressure up the middle, which is where things get a little hairy with him. Wasn't forced to come off his primary receiver or move to his 2nd progression on more than 5 throws. He did a good job of managing the offense and getting it right at the line of scrimmage. His ball handling was textbook, which it always was to begin with. He'll build from here.

Robert Griffin's touchdown would've been a touchdown had they picked a guy from the stands to throw it. Garcon did all the work. He's made improvements to his footwork, but he still struggles with accuracy and timing on timing routes. He's been taking a lot of sacks in camp, which is no real surprise. He was one of the most sacked quarterbacks in the draft.

Brandon Weeden looked like a typical Big-12 pocket passer going up against a defense for the first time. I think he'll be ok once he's able to turn around and start handing the ball to Trent. He did make some of the same tremendous throws that few can make that he made look routine at Oklahoma St. He burned Dwight Bentley in dowfield coverage for one, only to see Bentley come back and pick him off on an underneath attempt. Cleveland has no choice but to roll with him... he's the best they have.

Nick Foles looked tremendous. Andy Reid's accelerated development regimen benefits Foles. He was always criminally underrated by draftniks. He's the Eagles quarterback once they move on from the overrated and inconsistent Vick. Might even revive Reid a little bit.

Russell Wilson looked just like he did as Wisconsin. Braylon Edwards gets most of the credit from me for Wilson's touchdown pass. I don't think he'll sustain success in the NFL as a starter, but a quality backup is more of my long term prognosis.

Chandler Harnish was another criminally underrated quarterback. I touted him all of last year. The Colts couldn't possibly have done better with the last pick in the draft. He's got the highest QB rating of 'em all... a perfect 158.3.

Kirk Cousins looked just like he did at Michigan St., which is why I don't think much of him.

That comment was meant as a joke. I didn't expect anyone to answer. The answer to that question is clear as reinforced by fans.

Ryan Mallet

That was a joke there.... obv.

But, as far as Vick goes.... yea he blows dude. Philly was so loaded with talent last year. People called them the dream team. Yet, Vick couldnt lead them to the playoffs. They went 8-8.

I dont know if you have noticed this, but Vick is a TURNOVER MACHINE. He also takes a ton of sacks putting his team in negative down and distance scenarios. He stays getting injured because he dosent find open receivers while going through progressions. So yea, Vick is garbage IMHO.

You can put him in your top 20 easily if you want. I think he is fringe on that top 20 list at best. Id have to run down through it all and see where id put him. He had a couple decent season in Atlanta and he played REALLY WELL for about an 8 game stretch the year before last in Philly. It looked like he was finally going to be a QB there for a while. That didnt last though and he went back to turning the ball over on every other play.

How bout lets just take Jaws' list of 32 since he did the entire thing last month and start from there.

Well jaws thought beck was a good prospect so maybe another source.
Ill make it easy on u
He is bettter than the starting qb of these teams
Miami, Seattle,Oakland
Buffalo,St L, , KC
Cleveland,minnesota, Tampa Bay
Washington,J ville, Arizona

Thats just quickly making a list thats 12 teams so 32 minus 12 makes him easily a top 20 qb in this league.

He isnt better than Carson Palmer or whoever we start between Moore and Tannehill.

right now he is better than Palmer and please not better than Moore . I not talking about one half of a damn season and even then moore wasnt much better Im talking about how they play. The previous year Vick was an MVP canidate

RG3 is going to be a special player mark it down.

put a rest to this black and white QB talk, they are all QBs I dont really see a race or decide to like a player based upon race but it sounds like WV does just that

Bro, I didnt even bring it up, Tureo did. I dont care so much. Id like to see more black QBs be good. I think it would be good for the league. Dude asked a question, I answered.

ha ha...newton "might win a playoff game or two"...some of you guys are too damn much...just admit that you were wrong for once and move on...

Let me preface this by saying it's game 1 of the preseason so who gives a ****. Let me secondly preface (is that a thing?) by saying how cool it is for you to create a thread with the links. Most people don't bother and it makes for a much more informed and accessible discussion among people who didn't watch.

Luck is exactly what you expect. He's going to run a system perfectly from day 1. RG3 throwing deep outs off his backfoot is going to get him in trouble eventually, he better take the regular season more seriously and work on his game. But I'm an RG3 believer so it'll be fun to watch. I was skeptical of Weeden so no big surprise with that. Colt will probably be starting by the end of the year or it's going to get ugly.

Now the only one that matters.. since we're Dolphins fans. Tannehill was great. That is an unholy gun attached to his shoulder. Also the decisions were quick and hopefully he gets comfortable enough to start using his feet more. If we play him this year, there won't be a lot of wins, but there will be hope which is better than resurrecting Garrard's corpse for a desperate run at .500.

BTW, Russel Wilson does need to be in any discussion about the top QBs of this draft.

I think Russel Wilson would possibly start had they not given all that money to Flynn. He might just be the better player and have to sit the bench year 1 just so they can try and justify giving Flynn that contract. Phins were smart to pass on him IMHO.
