Richmond Webb was never Anthony Munoz, but he was one of the top LT's in the game for much of his career. If I'm not mistaken, he was a seven time all-pro selection and certainly played a big role in Dan Marino's success. His battles with Bruce Smith were legendary and, as great as Smith was, Richmond almost never lost those battles.

So does Webb have a shot at the Hall of Fame?

he may get a shot but whether he gets in im not so sure. Webb was a great player for us.

Are you serious? Marino was the qb sacked most by Bruce Smith.

Well, being in the division would certainly help that. Not to say he wasn't great but the fact that he faced Dan twice a year every year surely helped.

of course he was
they played two games a year against eachother for over a decade...

If that stat is true (which I question), it only means he played more against Marino than anyone else because of Marino's longevity, games played streak etc. Smith was rendered a non-factor in most of the Miami vs. Buffalo contests. The Bills dominated the series in the 1990's when they were one of the best teams in football, but it wasn't often because of Smith but instead because Miami's defense couldn't stop Buffalo's amazing offense. This is not to put down Smith, who is one of the all-time greats, but only to show how outstanding Webb was in pass protection. The Dolphins were almost always among the least sacked teams during the Marino/Webb years, despite passing more often than any other team. Says a lot about Webb and Marino's quick release.

Show me the stats, with the number of games played against Webb and then we can have a serious argument.

I think Richmond gets on the HOF ballot, but may have a tough time actually getting in. Lack of any running game performance will hurt him.

He should make it, his job was to protect Marino, no one was better at pass protection. The HOF voters are notorious idiots so he will probaly be on the ballot for a few decades and get passed over. Linemen dont get a lot respect sometimes. Also HOF voters look for great running games and runners so he might be SOL if they are like that. Id vote him in, he was a rock at LT.

Bingo! Webb was an outstanding pass blocker, but he could not run block to save his life. I agree Bill C, that will be the factor that will more than likely keep him out of the HOF.

Webb has no shot. He was an above average LT. He was special his rookie year, and then never took it to the next level.

While I appreciated his greatness, I don't think it will be easy. Kooch is still on the outside looking in.
