they keep saying what a great GM he is for the Vikings, wasn't he a very bad Gm for the Dolphins?

a lot of Great draft picks and key FA pick ups, Maimi was not very good at drafting during his time in maimi.

Makes me wonder.

I think your forgetting, that Wanny had final say in Miami... and I'm pretty sure Speilman didn't want most of Wannys' picks!!! He's done a tremendous job in Minnesota!!! he is fulfilling that potential that made him an up and comer while in Chicago!!!

yes! he was crap witht he finz. however..............

wanny was given the final say on ALL moves, all personel
and he shot down many of spielmans moves. as he did
with a lot of other coaches that were there with him.

remember, EVERY coach unamously said DRAFT ANQUAN BOLDIN!

but good ol wanny, he was the ONLY voice of decent and and drafted
that imortal lb from tennessee with the bum foot, i think he was in
one game for us, heck, i dont even remember his name now.

ah yes, eddie moore! [the guy most had rated in the 5th round]

remember how bad norv turner looked? after he left, he let it out that
wanny held back a lot of his decisions and was ham strung many times
on schemes and players he wanted. he has done pretty well since he
has been without wanny.

i mean look! you cant argue the fact that with wanny, spielman failed.

with out wanny and being the TRUE gm of the vikings, his moves have
been steller and they have been built into a power house team.

the last few regimes of the dolphins have killed off a lot of player and
coaches careers. some survived and proved to the nfl that it was the
dolphins that were the problem, not them.

hopefully those kind of bad personel moves [wanny] will be in the past.

who ever they bring in as dc will tell us a lot in if we have changed or are
still locked into the mistake ridden decision making of regimes past.

the other thing i have like about speilman, is even though he
had every right to, he didnt use wanny as excuses while he was
there and now that he is gone,

spielman got a bad rap in miami.

Wanny had a final say for a few years but then they gave Spielman final say and things got 10x worse!

He's still an idiot. He just doesn't have final say in MIN. Childress does. I'm sure if he had final say in MIN, they'd be horrible right now.

Rick wanted Boldin and Brees, Wannstedt thought he already had his QB in Fiedler and he wanted Fletcher.

I don't believe that for a second. Again, like I said in my last post - look how much WORSE things got here when Ripped-off Rick got full control.

Does a 2nd for AJ Feeley ring a bell?!?!

How about a 3rd for Lamar Gordon?!?!

Those were 100% Spiel moves.

Wanny was a genius compared to Ripped-off Rick.

Yeah that's why the genius is in Pittsburgh while Rick Spielmann has a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Yes, it's been said many times on this site and others that those are the players Rick wanted. I am not mad at him for finding success on another team. Good for Spielmann, he has brought magic to Minnesota.

LOL "magic". Spiel does NOT have final say in MIN. Childress does.

At most I'll give that MAYBE he learned from some of the MANY, MANY, MANY mistakes he made here but frankly, he's lucky that he even got a job with MIN.

Whatever - I could care less about ol' Ripped off Rick.

Spielman was obviously hamstrung by Wanny. Having said that, he also made inept moves including shipping a 2nd round pick to Philly for AJ Feeley and trading a 4th round pick to move up one spot to take Vernon Carey. Both of those decisions were Spielman's. So, he does not get a free pass. Spielman hurt the Dolphins organization, both on his own, and as part of the Wanny regime.
