I'm thinking that I'd like to see them get between 10-15 carries each tonight. Don't know if this will happen being that the last preseason game doesn't ussually feature the starters for more than a couple of series, but I think that it would benefit each of them.

Ricky is suspended effective at midnight, so this is the last he will see any contact for a while. I would think that it'd be benefitial to get him some good work in before he sits.

I think it's even more important to get Ronnie some real action tonight. He only got 6 carries against Tampa this entire preseason.......and he needs to be ready to rolll against Denver in week 1. There is a 10 day layoff between tonight's game and the Denver game, so he will rest shouldn't be an issue at all.

I say get this guys a lot of work tonight. What do you guys think?

why? what does ricky need to prove at this point?...

Ronnie? sure...

i kinda wish they held onto KayJay for an extra week to see what they had in him in game action... ah well...

Ronnie needs some touches tonight.. I'd like to see us run him around 15-20 times.

Whilst I agree that it would be good to get Ricky some carries before he sits, one could argue that they are wasted carries that would be better used by guys that are going to play for the next month.

Well, the preseason isn't about proving anything for a lot of players in the NFL, it's about preparation. Why do proven veteran's EVER play in the preseason if it's only about proving?? Why give Curtis Martin, LT, Shaun Alexander a single preseason snap? What do they have to prove??

I just think that this is the last chance to get Ricky prepared for his season, which must now wait till Oct. 16, I would like to see him get as much work as possible.

i see ronnie getting more second half snaps. i dont think saban will line up with both of them in the backfield / on the field - not tonight at least. why would he wanna give away his hand?

IMO, I think that Ronnie should get all the first team snaps, and let Ricky play a lot in the second half......Ronnie needs to be ready to go with the first-stringers for week 1.

exactly... he's already shown he's prepared and physically ready with his work THIS PRESEASON... and that's why you'll likely see those players you mentioned get one or two possessions this week, guaranteed. ... and that's why those players seldom suit up in Week 16 or 17 when they've locked up a bye week...

if you're a smart coach, you don't risk your marquee players with 15 carries in a meaningless game... period...

Ronnie gets a lot of work tonight...Ricky, well I think the coaches know what he can do...they know what to expect from Gordon, Minor and Morris...Ronnie is the only question right now and he is projected to be our workhorse for at least the first 4 games...I'd love to circumvent the NFL system some and let RW play the first 3 games and then serve his susp., just to see how the R&R backfield works out...

Actually, in the case of a team locking up an early playoff spot, say homefield advantage, a smart coach would make sure to keep their marquee players sharp by not sitting them for 3 weeks (2 games + the bye week).

EVERY single preseason game is meaningless, except for the purpose of preparation for your established players and proving ground for your fringe players. Tonight would serve the same purpose for Ricky as the other 4 games have, preparation, except after tonight's game, he won't see the field for a month and a half. Just my opinion.
