After considering what this rumour being pushed by Greg Cote is all about, I have decided to put some real thought into this.

First off, the Houston HC is not even finalized yet. An owner would not be wise making a trade like this, this early, without the HC even putting his two cents in. Its not feasable and it is a slap in the face for the new guy with all his new Ideas. Lets face it, this is truly a rumour started by fans, maybe on both sides of the track, because of the love to have Vince Young theory.

It would be a nice trade for us even if we did give up a third rounder. It would be needed in order to account for Ricky's risk factor. The hate Ricky crowd simply wants to get rid of him for a Qb without considering any truth to any of these rumours. Its blind optimism.

Ricky comes with lots of risk and money issues in his personal life. He will want a new deal to start over with. That is only to be expected. His agent will push for it for his sake and for Ricky's sake to take care of his kids out of wedlocke. Ricky also would be second fiddle to the other guy? I dont think so....which means, he will want more money, so he does not come cheap like he does for us because he is under contract with us and is now under court order to fulfill that contract or be bankrupt. We all know what choice was made. Now that would make him more risky in Houston's eyes because now Ricky is off the hook with the dolphins. Sounds great for us, not for Houston. This is the side of the equation that makes no sense to me. Houston has the first pick in the draft. They have alot of decisions to make in regards to this pick. Something that requires Ricky and his problems not even being on the radar yet. It simply is not rational for any management to consider anything like this at this point with any real conclusion.

Not to say that this will not happen, but this is pure rumour started by fans IMO. It was metioned here alot. It was mentioned in Houston. Thats how this stuff gets started.

The other thing is this. Vince Young + Ricky Williams vs. REggie Bush + David Carr. This is the real deal that needs to be looked at from Houstons standpoint, not ours. For us, its kind of in our favor to trade Ricky now that we have Ronnie and need a QB, from Houstons standpoint, the margin for error is much much thinner. This is where Ricky comes in. The risk is simply too much. The whole Vince Young thing would need to be seriously looked at and needs to fit the new HC's system and all that jazz. Another reason to know that this is rumour BS started by fans and none other than that. If I were the new HC of Houston, I would not even entertain this notion until I knew for sure Young was my man. Then if not, REggie Bush puts the Ricky rumour to rest. End of story.

So keep pushing the Ricky trade for Carr theory, but your only chasing your own tail at this point. Keep thinking about what could be, but prepare yourself for dissapointment. At best, someone in the Saban regime, who remains nameless, probably put this trial balloon out there for Houston to consider. Houston, is not even concerned with this at all at this point. They need to find their HC and desciples first.

Have at it. Although I dont think people will rationalize with this much.

You make alot of good points, it is pretty curious to see this rumor out there with so much not in place but I would love to get Carr.

I think Houston could trade Carr to us and then sign Young and still have a first rd pick in the middle of the rd. but there will probably be four teams higher then us in the draft willing to do the same!

I personally would like to keep RICKY but just like the HERM EDWARDS thing, where theres smoke theres FIRE, so hold on for a exciting off season..

Look, get used to it...

For every QB or OL or CB or S out there that may want to be traded or is having issues with the team they are with, there will be a trade RW rumor to go with them. Every transaction that may come up will have to be graded out by both partners, as you said. The trade Carr things (in Houston) are coming from the fact that he's been slow to develop. Whether that be due to the fact that they have had the worst OL and offensive schemes in the history of the game or not, is up to debate. The fact that Young is forgoing his senior season just adds fuel to the fire. I like Young, but don't think he's worth the #1 overall, but I'm not Houston. This rumor probably has some shred of truth...in that a reporter probably asked Casserly would he trade Carr and he responded with "Sure, everyone is available"...but that's about it...the rest of the details (RW, Miami, draft picks, Young being chosen first, etc) were all conjecture on either fans or the media outlet that spawned the idea.

But here is one undeniable fact....

For every player who says he wants to come to Miami in any kind of position of need, there will be a 'Trade RW rumor' to accompiany it.

While people are chasing their own tails on this what are you doing? Scratching and sniffing to find a way to keep him. Even if it means no improvement at Qb?

The only reason i'd make that deal is because ricky is one failed drug test away from not playing in the NFL. On that same note, I'd be surprised if the Texans made that deal.

I liked the way we used our RB's this year and think there's plenty of room to grow the scheme into something that uses both players at once (Ricky and Ronnie)

I agree with most you say except if we were to trade Ricky, I don't believe he will be off the hook for his contract with the Dolphins.
