Ricky garnering attention....

I was surfing through some articles on the Miami Herald website and something from this article caught my eye..

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/football/12380189.htm

"As he was coming off the field at halftime, Williams said something that should catch the attention of the 16 NFL teams that sent scouts to watch the game."

I thought that was interesting considering what a lot of people have said -- Ricky has very little trade value. Surely 16 teams wouldn't be sending scouts to a game where he was expected to have a handful of carries if they're going to offer us a 4th rounder.

Still, I doubt we'd get anything more than a second rounder as of now, and that'd be a good deal for us given the circumstances, but hey, some jibs offered a second rounder for a quarterback named A.J. Feeley

Is it really uncommon for teams to send scouts to watch pre-season games?

I guess I don't get what you are driving at here.

I think the author of the article is stating they were there to see Ricky.

Scouts go to every game.

Why would anyone want Ricky AND Gordon, let alone a QB that cant beat out Gus Frerotte?

I can see that sarcasm is lost on you.

Ricky's trade value is not much now, but after this season could be much higher. If he continues staying committed, and runs like he can... We could get a higher pick for him, OR, keep him... Ronnie needs to get into camp!

You'll have to forgive me, but I took what was said in the article to mean they were there to see Wicky, but not him alone. Meaning the scouts were there to scout the game, the TWO teams that were playing.

dude your van is frickin awesome......OT.

Why in the world would we trade Ricky? He looks like he can get back to his old form, his legs are fresh and he looks freakin quick. Besides that, he is only making the vet mininum. I don't think Ronnie Brown will be anything close to Ricky. Of course there is no way to prove me wrong since he is not into camp.

Your Van is the awesome......Talk about a tailgate party.....

Ricky won't be traded this year. If any RB from our roster is traded, it will be Gordon. I really like the idea of packaging Gordon and Thompson and sending them to Philly for maybe a 3rd round pick.

Scouts are at every game to look for guys who may get cut. Can you imagine Ricky in Zona w/ those 3 wideouts and that mammoth o-line. Denny is known to take a risk on some guys w/ shady pasts. Maybe he'd cough up a 1st or 2nd.

I'm pretty confident Saban would jump all over anything higher than a 3rd round pick. Then again if Ricky is willing to play at his current salary he brings more value by staying on the team IMO.
