On the eve of the NFL draft, Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban had dinner with a former first-round pick: Ricky Williams.

The pairing was surprising, given that the NFL suspended Williams for one year Tuesday after he violated the league's substance abuse policy for the fourth time.

"Ricky came over to the house last night, and we sat on the porch and ate pizza and all that kind of stuff," Saban said Saturday.

A roomful of skeptical reporters laughed, but when a Dolphins spokesman double-checked with Saban, the coach said the story was true.

I hope they weren't also having some of Ricky's weed. Not a smart idea to go into draft day high. Though Wanny and Speilman's choices would seem to suggest that. :lol:

But it's nice to see that Saban still sticks with his players no matter what. Maybe Saban wants Ricky back in 2007.

OH MAN! That would be such a great reality show! Like a new, hip version of the Odd Couple!
 
It just proves how highly Saban thinks of Ricky and it shows Saban's loyalty to players who work hard for him. I think it's great.
 
Ricky will be back to at least honor his contract because of their relationship if nothing else. Saban loves players with heart and he must have seen that Ricky and Zach was our only heart players before he arrived. Ricky supports the Dolphins and respects the team or he would'nt have appologized. I look for him to train and be in even better shape than before this year since he still has another year left after the suspension and wants to play.

Haha, now that'd be something to broadcast on the NFL Network. Next episode: Saban moves in with Ricky after being kicked out by Mrs. Saban. :lol:

imagine if they had a surreal life for retired athletes? It give Ricky something to do for the next year.
 
If Ricky hadnt been suspended we could have traded up from that 3rd round and picked up Santonio Holmes. Too bad he was suspended.

Get real Saban will not trade our best RB for a trade up in the second.:shakeno: Ricky will be in a Phins uni the year after his suspension and if he needs more money he will get it in FA or work another deal with us. Some people just don't get it Saban talked Ricky into playing for him nobody else. Ricky holds the cards not blind fans or even our front office.

I'm sure Ricky will come back and he would want to stay a Fin if this rapport with Saban is that deep. And I'm sure Saban would also want to keep Ricky around because Saban knows what Ricky is capable of performing.
