is it just me or does it seem like that? And so far Nick Saban is doing a great job of being the Zen Master (aka Phil Jackson) and keeping Ricky happy (ex: the whole playsheet at the hotel thing and mouse poop)...

I mean the way the media, and everyone follows Ricky seems to be similar to when Rodman was in Chicago. They are both complicated characters that the media seems to love to follow, the main difference though is that Ricky is a lot more coachable (when he's playing that is)...any thoughts on this topic?

no he's not.

The only thing they had in common was the wedding dress incident. They are both characters, but totally different ones at that. Rodman acted like an a-hole, ricky kept to himself. Rodman wanted attention constantly, Ricky never wanted attention.

Saban is no zenmaster yet on the pro level either.

Sorry to burst your bubble there, but this is a poor comparison.

Rodman was the man.

They both wore a dress.

They do have one thing in common they are both WEIRD.

And Phil Jackson is way overrated. With no Micheal Jordan he would have 0 Titles. He never would have gotten the Job in LA without the success of MJ.

geez, my boy, you don't have to jump all over my back. I was just making a comparison. I'm not comparing them as people as much as I'm comparing the entire situation that they are in and how the media portrays them as outcasts and weirdos. Yes, Ricky and Rodman are two different people, yes Rodman would be loud and obnoxious whereas Ricky is introverted. To be honest, I really like Ricky...hey the comparison occurred to me and I thought i'd share it to spice up the board a little since peeps were complaining about the same threads about trades, RBs, QBs, etc...

they are both portrayed as weirdos, but they are two completey different people. Ricky is the rodman of the NFL? Yes, to the very casual fans eye, but anyone that follows both sports, or knows the players on a more personal level would tell you they have two different personalities.

well said. that's really what i was trying to say. I'm no casual fan, I know they are entirely different and Ricky really isn't making any noise (bringing the attention to him) in his tenure, like Rodman did all the time. I think it really is the media trying to find a "Rodman of the NFL". They see the opportunity for a story on Ricky and they jump on it and try to blow it up so they can portray him as this super "weirdo" and keep people entertained and keep the story going...

The only comparison I see between RIcky and ROdman arwe they are both weird other than that they are different birds. And no Saban is not Zen like. Saban is just trying to keep things hush . Just like he played off the whole Ricky playbook. He doesn't want the spotlight. yet still had Ricky fined for leaving it. And of course he wants Ricky to be happy. Because he may get something out of him if he does try to.

I see TO as more of Rodman too and that big fat cheerleader called Warren Sapp. Ricky is good guy...part of the reason we all flipped out so much when he up and left last year. If he was a prick like say a Rodman... story would have been over fast and people would have been happy. Comparing the NBA to the NFL isn't even fair....training camp, the tenacity of the games and players, the intensity.... different level all together

uh, I've got to disagree with you on this one.

While I do think they both garnered a lot a media....it's actually for different reasons...very different reasons. Mainly because Rodman used the media in an effort to make more money...Ricky however shuns the media whenever he gets the chance.

There are many other reasons that they are differnet people but I'm guessing that you were just talking about the meida circus only since you mention "media" in your post.

I don't think Rodman ever quit on any team he was on.
