Guys,

What do you think is the plan long-term with Ricky. It is interesting that we signed him to an extension. Do we keep him because of his versatility and value to the offense with Ronnie Brown? I say yes, but Bill Parcels is crafty and could he have set this all up in order to miracally bring back some trade value to Ricky (which I thought would never happen). I could see a team offering a 2nd round pick for Ricky if Ricky finishes strong. If so, do we take it?

Nobody will give a 2nd round pick. Considering Ricky's age and background, we'd be lucky to get a 4th or 5th, imo. From what I understand, the extension is only for 1 year and pretty cheap. My best guess is Ricky will be around until until they find his replacement which they already started looking for it in the last draft. So his stay may be short. I dont see him in any plans beyond next season.

Well with how much of a flake he is and his age, unless he was putting up 1000 yds a game I have a really really hard time believing he will ever draw a 2nd round pick. As far as what to do with him, he is a good performer (when he's not screwing us over) and apparently is a good presence in the locker room. So I'd say he is worth what were paying for him, no reason to let him go plus having a RB tandem opens up a lot of valuable options especially in the wildcat formation.

Ricky is going to be way more talented than anyone we will find in the 3rd-5th rounds. And considering he is basically nothing towards our cap we have no reason to trade him. Ricky is still a top back. Watch how he explodes in the second half of the season. If we make the playoffs we will still have 2 fresh top backs.

Ricky won't play anywhere else. Barring injury, he'll play out his current contract.

the only other Running Back tandem better than ronnie and ricky is in tenesse
so why would we let go a to back when we can have 2 stupid q

Exactly. It's the same reason the Cards won't trade Boldin. He's too good and playing for cheap. You can't afford not to keep him.

id say the vikings have a better tandem then miami, just because peterson is so rediculously good..Ricky is in miami for good i dont see a team offering miami anything for ricky, he too much of a risk and hes too old. I can see us getting 2 more years out of him if he stays healthy

I think theres a huge difference between Boldin and Ricky. Boldin is younger and barely hitting his prime, has been dominant since his rookie season, and is a top teir talent at a position that is much harder to fill than RB. The Cardinals could easily get a 1st rounder for Boldin, maybe even two. If the Dolphins could get a 3rd round pick for Ricky, I think they'd take it. A 2nd round pick would be a no brainer, imo. Ricky shows flashes but he's not the same player he was before. He's also getting very old for a RB and will only decline from here on out. He almost has no trade value, imo. I think he'll be around next year and then they let him walk.
