Great article on Ricky...here's a little quote from the article:

"The way I look at it, the people who have misconceptions about me have misconceptions about themselves," Williams said. "People who have had the experience I've had and been stuck, there had to be some sort of crisis to break them out of the situation ... We all go through similar experiences but we all handle them a little differently.

"For me, it's definitely been a ride and it's been wild. But at the same time, it's been fun. I always used to feel like I was trapped as a football player and there were things I would never be able to do in this lifetime. I've had a chance to do 85, 90 percent of those things and I'm still a football player."

I admit I'm a Ricky fan, but I'll hold off anointing anything on him until after he retires permanently.

I think the way Ricky went down last year with the injury really left a bad taste in his mouth...I think he felt like he was embarrassed by the whole injury and the way it happened and all the replays and media saying he came back and only carried the ball 6 times...and he may of felt a little used since he only had a few practices with the team and then was thrown in the game in the down pour.

I think he is hungry to really perform well and to show everyone he still can play and to wash away all the bad decisions he made in the past and the way he went out last year.

That injury was complete and utter BS. The refs looked the other way and the league, even after having the opportunity to look at billions of replays, looked the other way. That was a BLATANT f-ing stomp on his back and no one said a damn word. I hope he rips defenses apart this season. I hope he stiffarms some Jets linebacker into the next century and flattens a DB on his way into the endzone.

Ricky is the man. I hate seeing people who make posts suggesting he "owes us" something as fans. Ricky is his own man and is free to do as he chooses and I respect the hell out of him for it. None of us own Ricky.

Yea, I certainly wish he hadnt bailed on us just before the start of a season too, but at the same time I have respect for a guy who isnt a sheep and wont tolerate being expected to be one. Its kind of refreshing to see.

He definately couldve had better timing in letting us know he didnt want to play, but whatever. I wasnt pleased with his decision, but he is who he is. Who he is is Ricky Williams....one helluva running back. And he can tote the rock for my squad whenever he wants to. I would just ask that next time he feels like he isnt into it 100% to give us a heads up so we can make the necessary arrangements before football activities start up again.

I really hope you're right, but the way I look at it each week I know it's possible he may not be there.

Although I honestly think he gets it now. I think he knows it's not about him, it's about supporting his family. That's a big step for someone like Ricky. Some ppl go an entire life time in similar situations and never understanding that.
