Are we goin to start playing Ricky on third down or what? Or at least if we are down by 3 with 2minutes left in the 4th quarter is he goin to play? How can we still be takeing our best player on offence outta the game? Better change soon or could be trouble.

I have been arguing this topic for the last two months. I think it is a complete joke. RE is not RW. For those of you that think He needs a breather, then rest him for a series, but dont take him out on the most crucial down of any four downs. This just shows that Wanny is lacking in some areas. I am fed up with Ricky coming out. I hope the Ravens take out Jamal LEWIS. I hope Buffalo Takes out HENRY. I hope the RAMS take out FAULK. I hope Saints take out Duece. I hope Raiders take out GARNER. I hope that the TITANS take out George. They all need breathers RIGHT? WTF

You know, i would be saying the same thing, but damn if Edwards isn't getting the job done when they get him the ball. He IS averaging 5.8 Yards per carry after all.

And yes, I understand that the number is slightly inflated due to teams playing off on 3rd and long situations when he is in, but the point is he's getting those yards.

Also, people around here (the bar where I see Phin Games that is) keep saying that they run him every third down, well, the truth is that Edwards only gets on average 2 touches each game. (not including receptions which he also averages 2 per game)

Ricky typically stays in on third and 1 or 2, but any longer and they bring in Edwards, and when they give the ball to edwards he almost allways gets 1st downs, or at the very least a large chunk of yardage on 3rd and forever.

here's a scoop, why not have em both in. i wanted to see lamar and minor in at the same time. if there is only one, they pretty much know who's getting the ball.

i'd also like to see lucas roll out more. when he did against the jets he was in the clear. he probably could have run for a couple of first downs, instead of the almost INT's!;)

Hmmm, well, I like the Idea of having both of them in at the same time... allthough we do lose a bit of Konrads blocking then, but the uncertainty could certainly work for us in certain situations.

As far as Lucas goes... well, hard to argue there, I agree, Lucas needs more rollouts and bootlegs to open the field up, if he posed a serious threat to run with it, then he might draw a cover defender away from his man and open a guy up every now and then.

I agree! I would love to see us line up in a shutgun with Edwards and RW in the backfeild, and put McMichael in the slot. Have Chambers and Mcknight stretch the feild, and let Randy run over the middle while the 2 backs hit the flat. I think the formation would give most defenses nightmares if Ray doesn't fumble the snap.

Just curious about a couple things...

- Has anyone looked into whether Fiedler just might happen to be ambidextrous? Maybe he's just never TRIED to throw it lefty. Could be worth checking out.

- If Ray Lucas were a center, could he snap an INT?

The play starts, McMicheal would miss his blocking assignment, the line implodes, Lucas gets sacked and fumbles and injured, Ruddy just stands there with his back to the loose ball not noticing because he's pissed off at himself for letting the DT push him backwards 10 yards, backs are still obliviously running their flat routes, which then gives the FS enough time to come back to the play, run over, scoop up the ball and taunt us for the 57 yards he has to cover for a TD.

Dajesus, you think that is what the coaches say to themselves everytime an aggressive attacking idea like yours comes up? It must be. I mean when was the last time we saw either the D or the O play a take-it-to-them scheme. Just not our stlye. We play base with take what they give us variation. It's a shame too. I think this constant stick to the basic and conservative attitude shows no faith by Wanne and the coaches in a mostly veteran team. This lack of faith is definately showing up in player and team confidence because of it too. Play both RW and RE in the same backfield? I think it's a great idea. I would assume too that the Dolphins have something like that in their playbook already. Just wish Wanne and Turner had the (balls) faith in their team to carry that kind of aggressiveness out regularly. People do amazing things when expectations are more than just mediocre. I like Wanne and Turner- not so much Bates- as coaches but sometimes I wonder what their priorities are really. Play to win or play to be perfect.....

on 3rd and 5+ this would give the D a huge advantage in the passing game. They could easily put in 5 DBs and completely take away our WRs with them and help out on McM. The only advantage to this is if we want to run ag. the nickel or in that we might make the D keep in more of a base D.

I would rather have Ward and Edwards in there w/our starting TE and WRs. Ward is clutch if he can get a ball thrown to him and Edwards has performed as well as you can expect Ricky to perform on the 3rd.

I just want to see Ricky get a min. of 3-5 ball thrown to him

Ricky is a bruiser, he usually stays in on 3rd and short.

At 3rd and long the entire offensive philosophy changes. many teams take their primary back out and add a WR. We add Edwards who is better in cutting back at this time.

We discussed this issue on a different POSTS, I said to play all 3 Konrad,Minor and williams and one less rcvr. We can run so many different plays out of that fomation that it will keep defenses out of balance.

But what ever you do, you need that QB to keep defenses honest.
