Assuming that Ricky's appeal goes through, whos gonna start at the RB position next year, Ricky, or Ronnie? Honestly I'm pretty stumped. I know most will say that they're gonna share carries which is true, but whos gonna be behind Beasely in game 1, and whos gonna get most of the load through out the season, Ricky , or our #2 overall pick (both of which were very productive)?:shakeno:

Let me hear some good stuff...

Ricky has to be the starter no question. Ronnie can wait in the wings and stay fresh and learn while Ricky does what Ricky does and thats challenge for a rushing tittle while carrying our offense when needed. Ronnie played alot better after Ricky came back and he hasn't proved to be a feature back in college or pro yet.

Ronnie is a more complete player than Ricky, let Ronnie start and trade ricky for a 1st day draft pick

Why would we trade RW for anything but a first round pick?
Brown I would imagine will start the game (unless Ricky clearly is the better back in preseason), but expect Rick to get just as many carries, and be in there down the stretch in the fourth quarter too.

Saban said it last year that ronnie was there starter i dont think it will change

I say rotate the start game to game since who starts seems to be so important to the media and fans.

I think the following scenario gives us the best chance to win:

Have Ricky as our primary back with liberal substitution of Brown and put Ronnie in an H-back role on third downs with both backs on the field.
In the 4th quarter let the fresher back hammer the opposing D into submission.

Per Chris Mortenson, don't be surprised if Saban makes Ricky the starter.

When did he say that? The last I heard Mort said don't be surprised if Ricky starts thats how much Saban thinks of Ricky.

Ricky is a far better running back, however Ronnie appears to be a better receiver.

I also suspect Ricky is more durable and a true game changer, where I have not seen this from Ronnie (yet?).

It seems it should depend upon the situation for which back is in the game and at what time.

Who knows what Nick and Mike have schemed up over the off season. There will be many options to choose from with such a dominate Back Field as we might be able to put on the field. With Beasleys blocking ability, and the potential
of RB & RW I suspect a runaway freight train.

Bench them both and start Travis Minor...that way both of them stay fresh.

How many times are we gonna do the Ricky vs Ronnie thread? I just hope we have them both and Saban has to make that decision. :)

Thats just not right. How many rushing titles has Ronnie got. How about pro bowl MVPs? How many collegiant records does Ronnie hold? When has Ronnie ever been the premeir back since high school anyway? How many NFL seasons has he not missed a game due to injury. How many 1,000 yard seasons has Ronnie had? Ricky can catch just as good as Ronnie and is a heck of alot better running back than Ronnie can dream of being.

1- Pro Bowl MVP's mean nothing

2- Its not Ronnies Fault he has landed in places with other great RB's

3- Most people seem to have forgotten Ricky was pretty much considerd a bust untill he came to Miami and had 1 great season, the rest of his career he has been an average RB

He was never considered a bust just weird man. Ronnie has never been in Rickys class on any level and he will be better served to watch and learn IMO. By the way last year with the exception of one game alot of people on here was calling Ronnie a bust and questioning him being drafted ahead of Caddy. Ricky came back and seemed to have helped Ronnie end all that talk.
