I know that Phin fans have been in the past huge R. Williams supporters and would like to set aside his early retirement fiasco from last year, but when you look at the way that RW was being utilized within the MIA offense as it's bread and butter it is easy to see what Ricky's beef was with the Wanny administration and the lack of upgrade that was being made at key skill positions.

Alot of MIA fans and especially players see Ricky as a guy that quit on his teammates, but none of his team can say that they accounted for as much of the Phins offensive production and still produced every Sunday even though every opponent had the BluePrint to stopping the MIA offense.. Stop Ricky!

At the rate that RW was being run he may have cut his career in half at a position that has an average of about a 5 year span.. something had to be done about Wanny's decision making.

The best that Dave could do to sure up the QB position was bringing in a Feeley to replace Feidler.. not a drastic upgrade to justfy Ricky hanging around for another season of beatings.

Ricky retires and in comes Ronnie Brown the Rookie with maximum potential, couple that with Saban "The Next Big Thing" to make the jump from College to the Pro coaching ranks and as much hype as Spurrier had in DC and all of a sudden the Phins once again have a pulse.

Ronnie has franchise potential but Ricky is a proven Franchise type back and he stays healthy without down time due to injury.

If Ricky comes back and produces like the Ricky of old after his suspension does that make him more valuable to the Phins as Trade Bait or could he resume his career in MIA where he left off, 30 carries/GM and 1500 yds/season?

Hey Juice 32 - Do you really want to be associated with OJ?
To answer your question - I'll take 'em both. We've done well with two upper eschelon backs before - I'd like to see us do it again.

What 2 upper eschelon Backs would that be that you've done well with _safe? Did Czonka and Mercury Morris play at the same time because I can't remeber the Phins having any other 2 RB in modern history.

Hey _safe wasn't Mercury strung out on Coke during his career?

I'm proud to be associated with arguably the Best RB in Bills and League History.. even though he had legal issues 20 years after his playing days were over.:cpatch:

TRADE !!! We swapped Surtain for an awesome DE to dominate the next 10 years. I like this game!!

That's right Csonka - Kiick - and Morris piled up a ton of years circa 71 -74. Even OJ had a complementary sidekick in Braxton, (good change of pace guy - could plow in short yardage situations).
It's true Morris had some legal issues post-career. He's since cleaned up his act. Never commited double murder.

OJ needed no sidekick, what he needed was a passing game and a defense.

OJ's 2000 yd season was a record that stood for about 20 yrs and it took 16 games to do what oj did in 14 games.

In the end OJ's career was cut short by that lack of passing game and how much the Bills offense relied on him to carry the team on his back.. Does that remind you of a certain retired dreadhead(#34) that hasn't had the supporting passing game since he got to MIA? Ricky might have extended his playing days by taking a year to rest his body and taking a year to put Wanny & staff to rest.

At least the Phins have a defense.. and now, since ricky took one for the team and got Wannsted fired, they've got a coach - now they just need to find a QB.:cooldude:

"legal issues" is an understatement.

('72-'76)The best consecutive 5 years statistically in League history at the RB position, is that an understatement?

I say keep him. The longer we keep Ricky splitting time with Ronnie, the longer Ronnie's career will last do to less abuse.
