Ricky Speaks About His Legacy

Someone needs to tell Ricky his rating on Madden is 80 overall....I hope it pisses him off as much as it did to me. That way he can prove the ratings wrong.

“I have a college legacy,” the Heisman Trophy winner said. “That’s enough. It is what it is. I just don’t worry too much about it. I just go out here and try to play football and let the legacy take care of itself and make sure I don’t do anything to make it worse.”

So what the heck does this mean.. He's wierd man.. He cares about his future now? He didnt then?

He'll say," Its not important how other people rate me, what is important is how I rate myself upon the stars of life. The decisions I make now with affect the rating of my soul and thats the only thing that matters". Or somthing like that

So how would he rate his soul on Madden?

I'd say quitting, lying and drug abuse, has made it worse. I think Ricky needs to re-think the comment. I want him to finish his career as a Dolphin and I believe his illness has played a roll in his decisions, but he has hurt his NFL legacy by making the decisions he's made. I think had Ricky never quit and been suspended, he would have made a serious push to be one of the best RB's ever to play the game, JMO.

LMAO!

I was hoping it would simply trigger a fuse to get him going back to his old form, being that I recall playing him on Madden back in 2004. He had much love for the game and was usuing the alias PiruLove34

as far as Im concerned,Ricky took his legacy, put it in the middle of a muddy road...and drove on the b**** three-hundred times with a monster truck....:shakeno:

I see it slightly differently. I thought his comment about "not making it worse" and focusing on his college achievements was a round about way of saying that he knows he messed up in the NFL, knows he can't change that and can't get back to that level of play, and that from now on he will "not make it worse" by avoiding making those mistakes he knows he made. I saw it as a comment about where he was going and not his take on the mistakes of the past, which he is dealing with by being Zen about it.

The article started with the following:

Ricky Williams isn’t concerned whether he’ll be remembered as a great NFL running back.
“I’ve kind of given up on that,” Williams said today about his NFL legacy.

Yes well we've heard that before, haven't we?

Seems like he's okay and happy with it...he did have a great career at Texas. Watching him break the then all-time NCAA rushing mark against Texas A&M was one of his great runs...needing just ten yards to break the record, did a 60 yard run, allowed his blocker set up, and made it in the endzone for the score.
He had some great runs in that 2002-2003 season with Dolphins too

Saying you don't believe him is different than saying that what he said doesn't make sense. You don't have to believe but there was nothing mistaken with what he said, especially if he means it.
